Here's an illustration I can post because it's been previewed on Freakangels.com itself
It's the full-crop of the softback cover. Personally I'm not too keen on the crop they've used... it makes the fish-eye effect confusing, and removes some of the atmospheric interest in the lighting. I'm hoping I can persuade them to change it.

No, but I didn't feel confident getting it right un-referenced, so I built a simple 3D model and rendered it using a virtual fish-eye lens and used that like I would a reference photo

I have to admit I cheated a bit on the fisheye, since I built a 3D model of the heli which I rendered in 3D with a fisheye lens and drew the scene around and over

Saw this over at the Freak Angels page but it really takes on a life of its own without the graphic and text overlay. The notion that the reader is peeking into the freakangels world is fantastic.
