At the end of the series, Joe is dying...and before he dies, he is determined to show the team the entrance to the Galactor Headquarters. Jun is the first one to find him, and she calls in the rest of the team. So this is Jun and Joe waiting for the rest of the team to join them. So sad, they know he's dying...*sniff*

Okay...but why did this scene never appeared in Battle of the Planets?

They cut out SO MUCH in Battle of the Planets, and replaced the footage with 7 Zark 7 stuff (yuck). They felt the scenes were too violent. Also, Battle of the Planets didn't do several of the episodes. Probably for the same reason. You should really watch Gatchaman to see what the original story was. It is waaaaaaay better.

Frankly, I find the "Mark" character in Battle of the Planet's way too domineering. As if you really don't need the other G-Force Members...Just Mark!

Well, Ken is a bit that way, too...but there is also more of a focus on Joe at the end of the series...Joe is more of a team player than Jason is (Jason was always trying to take over command on BOTP)

Funny how the writers can re-direct the whole story just by dubbing...
