Description Wow, haven't posted anything for a long time eh? Well, Josh told me that since he was going to be gone for a few days, he expected me to have less distractions and therefore to actually update my dA page. So yeah. I had a few things I wanted to post already, but I guess that's an extra reason to do so. ^_^

Let's see... Jill and Amy got 7th off on Tuesday, so rather than sitting in the tech lab all period, we went on a walk through the woods behind Jill's house. Multiple benefits. Not only did I get a few pretty cool shots, I also got to play around with Jill's manual camera (most awesome thing ever to be able to play with shutter speed, f-stops, etc. ), taught her a few things about using my little digi, and found a lovely new setting for photos, should I decide to go back one of these mornings.

These aren't actually in the woods, but Jill has some bleeding hearts growing in her front yard, so I decided to get a photo of them. They're such interesting flowers, and I'm looking forward to getting a few shots of my neighbor's white versions sometime soon.

This photo is untouched aside from a minor contrast fix- it was a little too light for my taste. Otherwise, the only edits are the resizing (Paint), border (Paint), and text (APSCS).

I love Bleeding Hearts! They're such an unusal flower and one of my favorites to photograph as well. This is a very pretty pic, my only complaint is that I find it is a little too dark for my liking. Otherwise, perfect shot!

Looking back, this shot is utter crap for me now. I should really reshoot it.

Utter crap? No. Should you always try your best? Yes. So go ahead and take as many reshots as you'd like, until you find it to be perfection.

Ooh, really? They're not my favorite, but they fascinate me. I mean, they look SO different from all other types of flowers, having a readily distinguishable shape like that and all. It's so bizarre, and yet so beautiful at the same time.

Thanks for the fave, and double that for the watch!

You've just missed the submission I put up a few minutes ago. [link] if you feel like looking.

Yes they do. In fact, my next door neighbor has a bunch of them in her backyard, all of different colors (pink, red, white...). I thought they were cool.

Hehe yeah, these are some of the most interesting flowers, simply because of the shape. When I first heard the name, I thought it was probably just a pretty name associated with the colors of the petals or something, but when you see them, they really do lok kind of like bleeding hearts. It's nifty.

I love the nice vibrant greens and pinks, and magentas here. It really pulls me though this piece. The Depth of Field is nice, too, as it gives the background an almost sort of 'painted' feeling, with the realistic detailed portions popping out at the viewer. The only thing that bothers me is that the DOF is shallow enough to blow the closest portion of the plant out of focus. Some would argue that's a good thing, but I'd personally rather see the detail in that portion of the plant. Minor, though.

The border would normally be too thick for my tates, but its a nice treatment for this piece, I feel.

I like it.

Hehe yeah, I know what you mean. Unfortunately, my little elph is kinda crappy when it comes to macro DOF and tends to fix on a very small section of the forward perspective. Kind of annoying, wish I could adjust the f-stop, but I'd need a manual for that. I'd prefer the same as well actually, but unfortunately I can't do anything about it.

I'm glad you like it. The border does seem a bit thick sometimes, but at others, it seems just right, and at others it seems even a bit thin. Then I thicken it for fun and realize it's ruined.

First off, this is absolutely beautiful! The saturation of the colors is wonderful. The focus is excellent, especially on the main large flower. My only comment would be the background, as it's a tad bit distracting in the lower center portion. It's such a minor detail though. Absolutely love this shot.

Hehe yeah, I was thinking about just blurring the background completely, but I didn't feel like manipulating it so much. Thanks for the sweet comment.
