I haven't read all the comments above, but hey..
I'm still going to say it
I honestly believe this is a good piece, however the fact that a flash was used and not ambient lighting around it..
This could be displayed so much better to do justice to this work. People are missing so much because of that flash glare.
It's a shame, but don't get me wrong.. I'm not knockin, just wish it wasn't so flash drowned.

Can you get your hands on some lamps around the way, it'd be good to use what you have around you. Unshaded lamps, a good spotlight.. something that doesn't give it that glare.
All in all, thanks for sharing with us

The more I photograph my works the more I learn about how to propperly display them... and this is a case where I didn't do so well.
Thank you for your well thought out comments... I really appreciate it.

When I get my camera back from the shop, I'm going to fool around with lighting and try to take a better picture of each of my pieces, hopefully withought the use of the flash... :/

try the unshaded lamp, or a standup lamp..
just distanced ambient lighting can make a good difference.
when you're trying to take pictures of a painting you want it to be as close to the original colors and such as possible.. it'll help people realize the authenticity of it

i'm sure it'll work out for you

Thanks for the tips... I was having real problems with my photos... but I do have a new camera now (and once its fixed... and my frustration has settled) I will get back into photographing them.
Some of my paintings aren't that bad. I guess you learn from mistakes!

I really appreciate your comments. Thanks!

Oh I'm not suggesting any of them are bad at all.
I'm just trying to give you a direction on how to convey the experience of what they really are like, through a photograph.

When you view something directly, that's like the purest way of seeing it first-hand.
But to take a picture that is close enough, that can be tricky.. yanno?

What kind of camera did you score?

I meant that some of the pictures of my paintings aren't that bad!
I try not to judge my own pieces... that's up to whomever looks at them. I just am glad that I'm getting a few pointers on how to represent them as photographes better than I have been doing so far!

I bought a Cannon power shot A70. It's 2 mega pixels, but it does what I need. I just wish it didn't break so I could be fooling around with it now!

That's a excelent peice, I really like the depth of the colors and the texture seems really cool. Amazingly beautiful. C'est juste et simplement parfait.

I am creepishly attracted to this, and I love the concept. I think I'll stare at it for a while...
