Finished pencils for a cover I recently did for Fathom #1 with Aspen Comics and Bluerainbow Online. Originally this was a concept sketch for the Calgary Fan Expo cover for Fathom I did earlier this year which had Aspen Mathews draped in a Canadian flag. When the owner of Bluerainbow Online saw the sketch he said, "This is cool. Can you make the flag an evening gown made of water?" Sure, no prob! haha.
I approached the task nervous about what I just agreed to, but finished it feeling rather proud of the results.

hey mike, how do you get your pencils to look so crisp? It almost looks inked.

It's a bit of a process really. I use an LED light box, french curves sharp erasers, paper under my drawing hand to keep from smudging the lead, and Photoshop to clean up any imperfections that come through in the scan.
