I don't know why, but there's something very poetic about the silhouette of the man in the distance. Although there is clear brightness in the picture, the lack of colour and the figure seem to resonate solitude and loneliness.Β

Seen something like this when I was stationed up by Kassel in the early 1970s.Β When you get that heavy frost on tree branches, like this, you think you've just passed into another world.Β If you stand there long enough, the figure in the distance will slowly fade away.Β You did well on this piece.Β Danke!

I love the snow, the whiteness and the silence too... this is one of the most beautiful winter photograph I have seen! The fact that the branches join and form sort of an arch adds a lot of charm to this scenery. The silhouette in the background adds mystery...I assume that is a man, alone in the snow...we don't know if he's happy or unhappy, enjoying his walk or rather lost and miserable in the cold.
