BATTLEFAIRIES [2016-12-30 19:58:24 +0000 UTC]
You have been visited by a Critmas Fairy! We fairies are trying to show the world we can give critique to others without being downright criticising, as per the spirit of CRITmas . Mind if I just hop on to business, then?
First things first: I think this picture is gorgeous and I almost feel terrible scanning it for anything bad. The cool colours are so pleasing and her face is very sweet-looking and well-done. The subtle but life-like highlights on her eyes and lips are delightful.
It's going to be a bit hard to tell for sure without the photo revenence, but I think she looks very narrow around the shoulder-area; either this girl is extremely thin and petite or else there has been a goof in laying down the initial proportions. Maybe it's an optic trick, what with the inward bulge of that sleeve suggesting a shoulder even further to the right than what her contours suggest.
Also not quite sure, what with dA's light background like this, is my feeling that the composition is imbalanced - she seems too far to the right, with too much negative space on the left. This is ficed easily enough though, by cropping off some of that empty space. I think that if you used the rule of thirds and placed the central axis of her face on the second third divide, that should be about right.
Once again, sorry for this 'picking of nits'. I really DO like the piece and hope the New Year will see you make much, much more of these!
Cheers,
CAPT. BATTLEFAIRIES of Team Fairies
