"Mourey," Vaska's voice said, whispering in his ear and in his head and all around him at once. "They're asking for you, son."

Mourey already knew that, of course. He could feel it, all around him, tugging at him. He could feel their fear and adrenaline and hope and determination, flowing through him. He wondered if it was just him, for a moment, but when he looked at his son's expression, he knew Noah was feeling the same thing.

"Is it Mom?" Noah whispered, looking at Mourey. The snow leopard nodded and wrapped his tail around Noah's back.

"They're asking for guidance," Mourey said quietly.

"Will Vaska help them?"

"They're asking me for guidance."

Noah's eyes lit up, the stars and Night River flowing through his face, making his fur glossy and clean and healthy. Noah smiled and nodded to his father. Mourey smiled back.

"Something is coming," Vaska's voice said again. He couldn't see his mother, but he could at the same time. The Night Matriarchs were busy, busy spirits.

"I will answer them, mother," Mourey said to her.

"May you offer them guidance, Mourey," Vaska replied. "As well as victory."

Mourey could feel Lene and Vin, retreating from their Oluman. "They have already won," he said quietly.

More spirits pressed around him, whispering, as he padded forward.

"May you give them back their compassion and wisdom," Sonja said.

Eira ran past, a flash of color, like a gold and rose colored phantom. "May you grant them speed, Mourey," she said.

"Give them strength," Barbel added, her voice as gruff and blunt as ever.

"May you give them resilience," Ula said, "and long, fulfilling lives."

Monik appeared in front of him, more solid and physical than Mourey had ever seen her. Her green eyes gazed softly into his, and she offered him a smile. "And may you give them faith in their Matriarch again, Advisor."

Mourey nodded respectfully, then turned to meet Noah's eyes once more. "Would you like to see our home?" he asked. Noah smiled. And in an instant, they were there, beside Ariadna and Ronin and the rest of the Olum plunging into battle to defend their Homeland.

"We're home, Ariadna," Mourey whispered to his mate, and the new Matriarch. "And the Night River has followed."
