Description Just wanted to do something different. I know that peacocks as a subject for stained glass-style pictures are cliche, but I like them (they're all my favorite colors), so there. I can't decide how to color this - digital, or real media. Any suggestions?

*Edit - got some background color now, done in Painter. It's been a lot more painstaking than I thought it would be.

*Edit 2 - I'm still trying to work out how I want to do the colors of the tailfeathers, so please give me some feedback on the progression. I'll most likely add some green at the edges of this aqua color. - Are these wings better, or was that golden shade better?

*Edit 3 - Final stage, I think. I ended up liking the golden wings better.

Thanks! I've played around with an Art Nouveau deck for some time, but "stained glass" is a good idea too!

Thanks, they were almost the death of me. Painter froze up everytime I selected a new area of the tail, and sometimes when I simply switched tools. whew...

Nice, the tail feathers actually do seemingly "pop-out" of the stained glass window... ^.=.^

0..0 GAH! *faints*

*comes to* This one is quite astonishing. The depth and transluscency of the color mixed with the stark opacity of the linework come together to make this one of your best to date, in my opinion. Too bad they can't make suncatchers on DA.... this would be perfect, even with a white border like what's here. I need to find my eyeballs... I think they fell out when I hit the floor..... *searches*

It looks like it will be really good when you finish.

I have a suggestion for these type drawings you ink and color in painter. The colors and linear curves all look vivid and precise, but the frame/border and circles look very hand-drawn, and that creates discord in my eyes. You should take a little more time when sketching to use a ruler and stencil and I think the end result would improve a lot. It would look less like a drawing and more like a refined piece. You owe to yourself anyway because you obviously put so much effort into the coloring, why subvert yourself with a hasty line drawing?

Good work though, I must say. If the design and coloring wasn't good, then those other imperfections would not stand out.

I know the fram is crooked - I'll fix it in Photoshop when I've finished the coloring. I actually tried to do it in Photoshop first, but I couldn't get it to do what I wanted.

coming along nicely...for the "eyes" in the tail feathers a bit of the blue you used gor the body would look nice..and maybe some of the red /yellow you used in the sky too, for contrast.

I like how nicely stylized it is, and even how it differs from your other stylizations. I also suggest trying both out, and seeing which one you like the effect and look of better. I think it'll end up beautiful no matter what you do with it. ^..^

Very pretty! i like it a bunch, the lines are very nice and i love the hills in the background with the royal sun emblem. ah, how regal. i would say go with the digital because watercolour is tough with design type images and small details, but that's me. try both! if you use digital coloring, a a sort of fade in the colors would be neat in the body feathers, like a darker to lighter fade to give it an illusion of iridescence. one idea anyway..maybe there are more things in painter i dunno about.
