Description
They say 'April showers bring May flowers', and I think I'm feeling that with a weird case of just being lethargic and constantly tired, especially when waking up in the morning. That was starting to take a toll on my inspiration, so when was holding art trades, I decided to sign up.

She asked that I create her character Stacy Cotton and Maestro Balan developing a father and daughter bond. I was going to go with something along the lines of the Maestro being a comfort character, but with this being Spring time, and warmer weather slowly coming back, I decided to create something a little bit more fun. After reading about Stacy's character and how she thinks of Balan, I thought it would be pretty sweet to showcase a moment for the Maestro to help bring her out of her shell by trying something she has never done before in the form of roller skating. It was also partly inspired by my dad and how he and I (and my siblings) bond over outdoor sports.

While sketching this out, I wanted to showcase both characters wearing the Speedy Skater costume. Especially since I was inspired by someone else's artwork featuring the Maestro himself wearing different costumes. The blue color palette contrasts the pink one, which is designated for the first player, and that pointed shape at the back of the head gave me some inspiration for how I designed his top hat.

With a little bit of encouragement, especially for thinking of it as fun, I bet those two will have a great time, and I hope Stacy's owner will like it too ^^
