My inspiration for this piece is the beauty the suffering find, not in the suffering itself, but in spite of it. In the darkest hours we find our way to secret places of light and refuge that we didn’t know existed: in art, music, stories, nature, friends, or faith. Or sometimes just in the sparkle of sand on a sidewalk. We are refreshed by light from heaven’s door.
