Yep, this is digital!
The trick for making the colour change is pretty easily actually, but it requires having a digital art program that allows you to create layers, like Paint Tool SAI (which I use) or Photoshop. First I drew Shiki with an ink pen tool. I used navy blue, but any colour will work. This is the base layer for the lines. Next, I added two layers over this. Above the layers, at least with SAI, you can see three small boxes, which say "preserve opacity," "clipping group," and "selection source". These are used to manipulate the layers. For these two new layers, you will want to tick the box labelled "clipping group". What this does, is that it makes it so that any drawing/colouring that you do on these layers, will only appear on top of the work that you did for the layer below it. In this case, I clipped these layers to the first one with my sketch of Shiki. So the colours I put on the clipped layers will only show up on the lines that I drew, and will not effect the rest of the drawing. The first clipped layer, I added light blue, making the lines that I had drawn that colour. Then on the second clipped layer, I put streaks of pink and smudged them a bit with a watercolour tool. The watercolour tool softens/blurs the edges and colour in general, so that the colours look like they're fading into each other. That gives the effect that you see here!

I hope this helps!

No problem! I don't know if there's a way to do similar art traditionally, but there might be tutorials out there that could help.
