Description
After my friends and made theirs, i want to throw in my personal Top 10 Donkey Kong characters.
#10 Candy Kong
Candy was well known as Donkey Kong's girlfriend and that made him unique among the other Nintendo Heroes (if we still count Mario as single of course). From a visual point, she's the total opposite to him; clothed, thin, very "human like" looking. It would've been nice if Rare/Nintendo would've deepened their relationship. Instead she's literally gone without a trace. I still hope for her return.
#9 Chunky Kong
Tbh i never played DK64, i only know the game through a Let's Play, but i like Chunky Kong. He's a gentle, yet very cowardly giant. But like Luigi, i like this kind of character, because overcoming his fears and helping his friends really makes him a strong ally!
#8 Kudgel
Weird right? Kudgel was one of the Bosses from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, where he appeared at the end of World 3, Krem Quay. He's a tough and ridiculous strong Kremling, who swings a giant club single-handed and only gets hurt, when he got blasted by a TNT-Barrel. But it's not only his appearance, why i like him. Along with King K. Rool, he's one of the few Kremlings with an "identity", although his japanese Name Glubba (which is a portmonteaux of "Gray Klubba) suggests, that he's "just" a color swap of the more (but not to) friendly Kremling Klubba. Also he's a pirate. A pirate!
#7 Enguarde
Underwater levels are mostly very stressful, equal if it's Donkey Kong, Super Mario or others. But when you find Enguarde, you got a friend until the end... or a least until the end of the level (section), where he appears. Not only that he maneuvers pretty neat under water, he also can attack most enemies with his sharp nose. When i was young, i didn't like him very much, because always saw him as a "Water Rambi", but nowadays i really enjoy his appearance. Like Candy and Rattley, i still hope for his return
#6 Rambi
I'm honest, i think the main reason why i like Rambi is, that i loved rhinos as a child. And this was especially influenced by Rocksteady, one of the two goons from Shredder in the first Ninja Turtles-series. Apart from that, i really like how Rambi evolved from the first game. His return in the latest DKC-titles for Wii and Wii U respectively 3DS and Switch were very refreshing.
#5 Rattley
When i first saw him, i wasn't sure what to think about, but i love this bouncy snek. He was one of the new Animal Buddies in DKC2. He can jump very and unlike most depictions of snakes, he looks very likeable. Also he's a snek.
#4 Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong
Like Kiro-Kurusu, i count them as equal. If you look at them, they're an inseperable duo, like Asterix and Obelix for example. While Donkey Kong is very strong, he can always count on the help of his little buddy. When i played the first DKC back then, i always saw DK as the "superior one", but after DKC2, when this little guy went out to save his friend and dealt with the whole Kremling Krew, i learned that height and strength are not important to be a real big hero.
#3 Funky Kong
I always liked his style. On the first look, he shares some resamblance with DK, but his characteristics make him very unique, especially after his apperance in the Switch-port of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze>/I>. Also he's a great inventor of vehicles and weapons. He's a pretty cool Kong and as it seems, he absolutely knows this!
#2 Dixie Kong
The reason why i like Dixie is the same, why i like most female characters like her. She's not the damsel in distress, she's a brave and confident girl and got the skills she needs to battle the whole Kremling Krew twice. And even though DKC3 is my less favorite DKC game, i really love her whole character. Nintendo should never drop this precious girl again!
#1 King K. Rool
As the ruler of the whole Kremling Krew, King K. Rool is not only very powerful, but also showed a high amount of intelligence in his actions (although he sometimes act very goofy). After his first defeat, he completely changed the hierarchy from the former army-like appearence of the Kremling Krew, changing it to a pirate theme and giving himself the title Captain K. Rool. After that, he took on his third persona, Baron K. Roolenstein and invented the robot KAOS, before he changed back to his first appearance. His most challenging (and to this date last) battle against the Kongs was in DK64, where he went as King "Krusha" K. Rool into the ring and fought like a great boxing champion. After that, he never was seen again. He only got a minor appearance in the Baseball game Mario Super Sluggers, until he made his big return in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (where he's one of my mains). I don't know if it's pointless, but after his final return, i really hope to see him in future DK games, as well as other appearances. *cough Mario Kart 9 cough*
That's it! You can't prove me wrong, but you can tell me, what you're thinking about. Enjoy!
