Red Tide-class battlecruiser
Built in response to shortening budgets towards the end of the Second New Tellenese Civil War with increasing necessity to match battleships in combat, the Red Tide-class battlecruiser is a further development of the Arbiter hull type with enough armament to stand roughly toe-to-toe with a battleship while maintaining the maneuverability of a heavy cruiser. Though adopting the side sponsons of older designs such as the Titania-class battleship and Mazuril-class heavy cruiser, those on the Red Tide are meant primarily as housings for additional engines rather than for additional railcannons. This allows the battlecruiser to be highly maneuverable rather than more heavily armed. Even so, the Red Tide is a major threat to any class of vessel, maintaining a single 100 metre-calibre main gun and a pair of 50 metre-calibre guns as its primary forward armament, in addition to several dozen heavy missile tubes. Along its ventral, dorsal, and broadside angles, it mounts four twin 10 metre caliber heavy rifles and a pair of twin ion-salted gamma lasers, specialized particle weapons normally only found on the Sarastro-class fleet carrier and special weapons carriers. This formidable weaponry paired with its exceptional maneuverability for a ship of its size make the Red Tide a force with which to reckon.
