Description
Vanguard-class carrier
The Vanguard-class carrier, as the title suggests, provides fighter and bomber support during major fleet engagements. Though it lacks most offensive armament aside from a token number of VLS cells and directed energy nodes, the Vanguard more than makes up for it with a combat craft complement of well over 6,000, the Vanguard can be a powerful ally or a formidable foe. As such, the Vanguard is only deployed on an as-needed basis, during engagements where heavy fighter and bomber cover is a necessity. The most noticeable and distinctive feature of the Vanguard is its magnetic launchers in place of the forward railcannons normally found on Titania-type hulls. Essentially a coilgun that uses attack craft rather than bullets, the High Velocity Combat Delivery System allows the carrier to quickly deliver fighters and bombers into the fray without the fighter having to expend any fuel or the flight time normally taken to enter battle.
