Description NEW VERSION UPLOADED, which was inspired by taking DMT.

For those of you not familiar with D.M.T. - Dimethyltriptamene, it's a psychedelic substance that is is created within your OWN BODY. It's in more plants and animals than it's not. It is a very fascinating little molecule. For more information I highly recommend picking up the book: DMT - The Spirit Molecule, by Dr. Rick Strassman.

Inspired by and named after the book of the same title. 16 x 12

The funny thing is they have the power to make something in your body illegal... or a plant... Ridiculous. It's nature. It belongs to us.

I love this piece, it really captures, to the extent any form of our expression can, the DMT experience. I am glad to see so many people outside of the group of people I know, on this site and others, have seen the benefits of this incredible substance.

I am, in awe. Definitely a favourite.

I did DMT once (first time) and I became a tree. I learned how it felt to be one- even though they don't nerves or anything like that. It was a very interesting experience. It made me respect nature a lot more. Also, a toy soldier that was tied to a pole- his hand was raised and it turned into a hag fish. The hag fish tried to speak to me but I could not hear it. Then it turned into a raven spreading its wings. Afterwards I looked back at the trees and they began to sway or "dance". Of course, any moving or fast motion and loud sound is displeasing while on it, but when the trees swayed, I moved with them and it did not bother me.

It was nothing totally out there like learning about the universe or seeing my soul. But that little experience alone had an impact on me. I'd like to do it again someday.

Very nice job on the picture btw.

I don't know, but doesn't sound like it. DMT you gotta smoke out of a glass pipe like a crackhead. Or if you're a scientist you inject it. If you're a shaman, you just make ayahuasca.. or eat mushrooms, which interestingly enough, once they digest a process happens that removes the phosporous atom and makes it become DMT + 1 oxygen.

Everyone has a different DMT experience. But a good dose, picture going numb, and going into outter space, and you can see and hear the biggest and most clear scene. People remark it's usually beautiful, full of guidance, as well as enlightening. Makes them feel one with the universe. I like the joke in the book I read "You can remain an athiest until 0.4 miligrams". Basically saying, a super high dose will send you to your soul.

DMT is released in large amounts from the brain when you die. Tunnel of light anyone? It's also released in a fetus after 49 days of development, which interestingly enough, the Buddhist monks for years have said after 49 days is when the soul enters the body. At this day also marks when the fetus becomes male or female.

DMT is made in your brain. Your brain loves it, lets it it, yet also HIGHLY regulates it. The place where it is made (The Pineal Gland), also has an "ANTI-DMT" that is made there to counter it. There is crazy systems in your body that facilitate the production of DMT but also the control of the dose. When you "DO DMT", its kind of like getting to experience what someone on their death bed might go through.

It's fucking cool. That's all you gotta know.

damn i wonder if its released while ur dreaming...at all? also thanks again fer the info i highly regard it as an in escapable experience into which we all are becoming

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SteveGriffith In reply to Waurie [2012-06-29 00:54:49 +0000 UTC]

I think it's released when you dream but I'm not sure. Because it's illegal, it's difficult for people to conduct research. Mostly blood samples have been taken to test for DMT but the MAO's in the blood break down DMT and other chemicals pretty quickly. I think they would have to basically kill someone while dreaming and look at their pineal gland to see if some was released while dreaming, but then again.. it's released when you die too.. so you'd have to use some crazy scanner with the person alive and intact I would think.

What in particular are you curious about learning? I don't mind sharing more. I used to do it a lot but i dont care to preach, but i like taking something useful I've learned, sharing it, and saving people the time and struggle, but they are going to go their own pace and learn themselves ultimately regardless. But i've been meditating for 6 years and i have learned a shit load, that we can do anything, what we learn essentially, just convinces us of our potential and limiting mental blocks.

Well you gotta be specific cuz I don't know what you want or what you're looking for. Or maybe you haven't learned to know what you're looking for yet.

We live our lives in really stubborn counter-productive, counter-intuitive ways. It's just our way of society. It's all busy, make the money, go home, then fill your time up with what everyone else is doing, seeking amusement and distraction, while numbing the stress with mind altering substances making clarity and even free time for clarity non-existent. It's basically a choice to let go, let the senses stretch and just observe. Observe anything, Yourself, the world, how you react to it. But the point is you set out to do it. I'm just going bla bla bla here, but stating that we're all pretty scatter brained and aren't really taught or nurtured to be anything else. We just take pills for that, and love being told it's not our fault and that it's something external. It's the worlds fault we're fat, the worlds fault that we can't pay attention, etc. Even though there's a truth in both those statements, you still have a choice, and a focus and will to stay firm in the direction you choose.

Once again, i don't know what goes on in your life, or these things you feel like learning lately, but just based on your interest in the subject matter of my art, I bring up this topic of self-awareness. I would say seek to know yourself, it's what you can do best, everything else follows with it.

Looks great! The anatomy/perpective on those legs looks a bit awkward though. Rather than creating a base with the spine at roughly 90°, they seem to be extending the back at an angle close to 180°.

Ah yes I know what you mean. I had forgot about that. Something I can't easily fix, as the guy I cut out of another painting and basically glued on top. I forgot about this issue and at the time I was going to put a seat or pillow under him or change the angle or something. A mistake I made from combining multiple references. The face is partially my own. The hands from something else, and the legs from someone else!
