Nice job Steve, the modeling the compositing of the Terragen back plate very complete! I love these plausible type designs !

Hello:

Β I like how detailed this model is! Also the concept of having the means to protect ourselves from asteroids is very nice .

This is awesome!

Also, clearly a coilgun, not a railgun, but I digress,

You made this in Blender!? Niiiiice!

Did you render the Earth in Blender too or is that just a nice background image plastered on a flat mech?

ThanksΒ  The planet was made in Terragen but blender for everything else, the modeling, rendering, glows and other compositing.

Thanks, check outΒ planetside.co.uk/ for more info on Terragen. Takes a little getting used to but can deliver stunning results.

I don't know about asteroid control, but certainly other planetary defense and offense roles (like a non-nuclear bunker buster). To defend against asteroids, we need something that doesn't turn a sniper round into a scatter-shot. You only need to nudge an asteroid off course.

Nice work. I like it.

Well that dependsΒ on how far out you hit the asteroids I would suggest Glad you like the pic - thanks for your comment.

That's awesome work, Steve. Looks a like a photo from the ISS (taken before the CGI gloop monster ran riot).
