Description

Name: Hua Yuenli, commonly called Yuen
Age: 17
Gender:
Height: 4'11"
Designation: Warlord/Warrior
Country: Aiyan
Specialty: Dragon/Steel

Occupation: Governor. As Warlord of the East, Yuen's responsibilities entail the well-being of everyone in her territory and maintaining its economic and military strength. In addition to this, she is seen as somewhat of a religious head by many Aiyanese due to her bond with Rayquaza, the Jade Death and guardian deity of Aiyan.
Abilities:
- enhanced physical abilities - at first glance, Yuen does not appear to have a warrior-class link, but she does. This manifests primarily as high strength, speed, and agility, as well as sharper senses and temperature resistance, all of which far outstrip an ordinary teenager with minimal effort. In fact, Yuen is quite capable of overpowering grown men, warriors all, which is attributed mainly to her partnership with Jin. However, her physical defenses are not much better than average, requiring her to be more careful when going into battle directly.
- quickened healing - Yuen's most useful ability. She is surprisingly resilient to attacks of all kinds, minor wounds healing over almost as soon as they are inflicted, and major wounds healing in a mere fraction of the time an ordinary human or witch would require. Yuen also possesses the ability to accelerate this by borrowing the effects of Xuan and Zhen's Roost, though it requires more active concentration on her part. Yuen has no ability to heal others.
- barehanded combat - like many of her kin, Yuen has been trained from a young age to fight and kill with her bare hands, if need be. Yuen's particular style is swift and constantly moving, relying more on unbalancing opponents with speed and skill than overwhelming them with brute force (though she can do that too - it's just not preferred). She has demonstrated the ability to rip someone's heart from their ribcage with her bare hands on multiple occasions.
- weapons mastery - Yuen has also been trained in various forms of combat. Her preferred weapon is a guan dao or similar polearm, which she uses to compensate for her lack of reach.

Personality:
- sweet - a compassionate, cheerful young girl, Yuen hardly seems suited to the post of the Hydreigon clan's lady protector, whatever her skills and inheritance. She possesses an incredible capacity for reasoning and a relentlessly inquisitive nature, which, coupled with her warm and open manner, does a lot to ease people's perception of her.
- demure - for all Yuen's military and political power, the girl prefers to cultivate a quiet, composed image, which occasionally does get seen through but is usually effective. Yuen has a quiet bearing and collected air, both of which help to inspire confidence in her abilities.
- practical - Yuen is surprisingly shrewd and a very effective, logical thinker. It's quite simple for her to see cause and effect, or how to reverse-engineer a solution she desires. The problem lies in deciding the best choice, and Yuen is often stubborn and clings to her first ideas, which may or may not be correct.
- dramatic - despite her wit and cunning, Yuen is still a teenage girl, and very fond of legends and myths. She is prone to daydreams and reconstructing events in a more favorable light, often with rose-colored glasses. For all that she seeks to rectify this when it's pointed out, Yuen still retains a tendency to romanticize and dramaticize events.
- unfaltering - Yuen's power has been described as "soft". This doesn't mean she'll surrender - the opposite, actually. When challenged, Yuen rarely charges at it head on, but flows around it and effectively diverts or redirects any opposition with minimal effort. Though, occasionally, that does mean brute force, which Yuen is quite happy to provide. Once Yuen has made up her mind to pursue a goal, she will, whatever the cost to herself.

Pokemon:
Jin - Rayquaza, Dragon/Flying
Calm, lazy, and somewhat indifferent, Jin seems to be the last thing a nation as savage and honor-bound as Aiyan would want for a patron. Yet Jin is also surprisingly wise and thoughtful, able to communicate clearly with the people of Aiyan as a whole despite his lack of traditional telepathy. Like Yuen, Jin possesses a skill for cutting to the heart of a problem, though his ideas about what to do with it may or may not be considered acceptable (ex. literally eating the last monarch of Teutania for impudence, which worked out surprisingly well). For all his power, Jin seems quite content to laze around all day and offer Yuen advice, though the few occasions he has taken to the skies in war have lead to the Hydreigon clan's uncontested victory. Also, he sparkles.

Xuan - Hydreigon, Dark/Dragon, ♀
Brash, boisterous, and fiercely cunning, Xuan is by far the most aggressive and active out of Yuen's three partners. Xuan's contribution to establishing Yuen's power as warlord resides mainly in brooking no insubordination and cheerfully demolishing any resistance, through sheer force of personality when possible, and violence when not, which she is very good at. Constantly getting into fights, especially with her brother Zhen over his lack of aggression, Xuan is regarded as the strongest dragon of her generation, more or less.

Zhen - Hydreigon, Dark/Dragon, ♂
Sweet, compassionate, and obedient, Zhen appears to be the exact opposite of a typical Hydreigon, despite his huge bulk and intimidating stature. While quick to get into play-fights, especially with his sister, Zhen rarely aims for lasting damage or to establish dominance, neither of which he could care less about. This puts him at odds with many dragons and their partners, who don't see why such a submissive Hydreigon should have power, and may or may not view Yuen as weak by extension. This is usually rectified when Zhen gets angry enough with their antics to pulverize them.

History: Hua Yuenli was born in eastern Aiyan, the younger of two siblings; notably, her elder brother by roughly five years was, at an early age, claimed by Aiyan's patron Rayquaza for his first link. This resulted mainly in a gap between the siblings as her brother was sent elsewhere, though Yuen's life was otherwise unremarkable. Like many of the children of Aiyan who showed such an aptitude, Yuen was raised from an early age to fight and lead. Before she could walk or talk, she was partnered with two Deino twins, Xuan and Zhen, and the three were inseparable. Although cheerful and good-natured, the young Yuen was especially difficult to look after, due to her adventurous and inquisitive nature, and, with her partners' aid, could be found almost unfailingly in some mischief or other.

At fifteen, Yuen and Xuan and Zhen, then Zweilouses, accompanied her brother in a diplomatic mission to northern Aiyan. As the small group passed through a narrow mountain pass, bandits - hired or not, no one could say - set on them, weapons flashing. Whatever they were, their attack had been well-planned, closing in from above and below and thoroughly checking any advantages the group might have possessed. In sheer frustration, Yuen's brother, quickly realizing that the combined party of warriors and witches could not hold off the bandits with their abilities neutralized, converged and rose again as a Rayquaza, slaughtering the foes not wise enough to run. When the battered party returned to the eastern capital of Aiyan three days later, it was Yuen that led them back, with a newly forged link to the Rayquaza, Jin, to mixed reactions (mainly various stages of shock and disbelief).

In the last year, Yuen has since ascended to the position of Warlord of the East, political and military leader of eastern Aiyan. Though young, Hua Yuenli has thus far proven to be a calm, rational voice in political arenas and a fearsome enemy in battle, with the guidance of her clan and her partners. Certainly the most influential of the three Aiyanese warlords, Yuen is not deaf to the change sweeping over the continent, and recognizes the variety of voices within the dragonlands' borders - war or neutrality, the sword or the plow, isolation or conquest - though her judgment as to Aiyan's path has yet to be determined.

Other:
Yuen speaks five languages at various proficiencies. She is fluent in the common language of Eleia, the language of eastern Aiyan, and dragontongue, which is the common language of Aiyan. She is conversant in the languages of northern and southern Aiyan. She does have a pretty thick accent in all languages but dragontongue and her mother language.
