Name: Jin Song
Gender: male (no, really)
Age: 22
Gang: the Dragons
Job: Leader (Dancer)
Weapon/Tool: Essentially anything sharp that can be used with one hand to hurt people. Jin's preferred weapon is a butterfly knife, of which he keeps at least three on his person at all times, and often has concealed more kinds of knives somewhere. It's like a grab bag, but with knives. Also, he dances with them.
Height/Weight: 5'8" / 142 lbs

Personality:
Sweet, upbeat, and confident, Jin is at first glance incredibly cheerful, emotive, and easygoing, with a tendency for physical contact and getting up into people's personal space. And he is, but it doesn't take much pushing to bring a sharper, more intense side to the surface, and sometimes people need to be reminded that for all Jin's flippancy and frivolity, he did manage to raise the Dragons from scratch in the span of five years. Jin is quick-witted and perceptive, for all that he's entirely hopeless with anything related to mechanics, tests, or normalcy. Jin is also focused and determined and often cruel, for all that he's also free-spirited and calm and kind. He is not so much malicious as implacable, clear-sighted, and merciless, cutting straight to the heart of anything that threatens anything of him or his Dragons. People have compared Jin to a force of nature more than once.

History:
Jin Song was born and raised in Ash, with a single mother and sister about five years his junior. When his mother disappeared when he was six, Jin basically raised his sister, Yuen, with the occasional help of Ash residents, who were mildly mystified by the six-year-old's insistence on independence. This would go on to set the tone for basically the rest of Jin's life. He dropped out of the public school (Nexus's Ash district school was kind of terrible anyway) and fell in with a group of street dancers, who taught him to dance and to survive, which might have been the same thing.

Growing up was a long lesson in lying low and staying out of trouble, particularly if trouble came calling. He drifted in and out of the gang circles, protected somewhat by his prodigious use of knives and decided lack of interest in gang politics. Jin nursed an innate dislike for their restrictions and tendency to shove around the poorer residents of the district, dancers included. Jin made irregular runs to the wastes, scavenging for anything useful or valuable, and when Yuen grew up, he brought her too, especially as she was much better with machines and identifying their value than Jin was. It was on one such expedition, when Jin was 17 and Yuen 12, that they unearthed a massive mech, which they identified as the Reverie, a mech modeled after the ancient Lugia that had gone down in the oceans around Nexus - back when they were still oceans, anyway - almost three centuries ago. After much trial and error, the siblings managed to reboot it long enough to convince it to move itself into an abandoned hangar they'd been using to prepare for such expeditions.

Yuen began work on the Reverie mech, much of which involved arguing with the AI that came packaged with it - Azrael. Meanwhile, Jin quietly began recruiting people to aid them - his friends, other dancers, at first, but this would quickly expand beyond that. Thus, the Dragons rose to power, as Jin led them to overpower their enemies, crushing rival gangs underfoot. Two things helped them establish a foothold - Jin's pushing dancers to take up weapons, putting them on the front lines in an unprecedented maneuver, and Yuen's surprisingly effective repairs to the Reverie mech. At present, the Dragons are one of the two main Ash gangs, though much smaller and less competitive, mechwise, than their sort-of allies, the Dynamos.

Other:
- Jin has two eyescreens, one built into each eye. He mainly uses them for communication with his gang and also to play games when he gets bored of listening to people talk. People who know him assert his eyes were creepy as hell even before he got his eyescreens (at roughly nineteen). He sometimes wears black contacts to detract attention from his eyes, though they're not as distinctive as his tattoo.
- Jin's Dragons mark is a white, glowing tribal tattoo of a serpentine dragon coiled around his neck. He actually got it when he was fifteen on a dare, but the whole dragon tattoo thing was adopted by the gang he hadn't even realized he was starting at the time.
- Jin often dances in Ash territories, which people are drawn to because there are only so many dancers that incorporate lots of sharp pointy things in their performances. He's very acrobatic and kind of a show-off. Also, very good with knives.
- Jin is highly perceptive and intelligent, for all that he's basically self-taught at almost everything. One of his pastimes is field trips to the public library in the Hub, where he is usually found deep in the history section.
- If he needs to keep his hair out of the way, he usually ends up braiding it and pinning it up, but he's really lazy and doesn't do it as often as he should.
- Jin rarely wears shoes or actual pants (because damn if he doesn't look good in a skirt). He's also really good at parkour, though he usually has to tie up his skirt first to keep it out of the way (or actually wear pants).
- Jin's kind of... shall we say, promiscuous, and unashamed of it. He's not shy of using it to his advantage, and he's damn good at it, initial confusion of onlookers aside. General reaction to Jin generally runs along the lines of "oh no that shouldn't be hot."

Wow.... Jin may be the biggest trap I've ever seen. You took the androgynous elements and took them up to 11.

Though, all in all, I like the character. Shame on me for assuming he was a woman at first. Also, I can't wait to see the mech too.
