Description Before anyone jumps out of their seats thinking this is Emma Carstairs (from Cassandra Clare's The Dark Artifices series in progress) it's not. This is my Emma, Emma A. Claire who is not a tribute in any shape or form to Cassie or her works even though I'm aware how much it looks like it *bangs head on the wall*.

So I know a lot of you come to my gallery for the Disney or the various book fanarts but I'm hoping some of you like my style enough to take an interest in some original stuff of mine.

Allison and Cameron Claire are Emma's parents.

Robin and Stephan end up being Emma's guardians of sorts.

And Emma...well Emma has a massive chip on her shoulder and a rather nice bag too.

Emma is actually named for my cousins Emma, Amanda and Clara, hence Emma A. Claire. (on an unrelated not this gives her the initials EAC, the same initials as another character of mine Aella Celeste Ezra, this was co-incidence)

I've been compiling ideas for Emma for a while now and they're starting to knit together so not only will I be colouring this at a later date but I will be extending it as new characters are finalised, with names.

This is the first time I've put Allison and Cameron on paper and I'm happy with how they turned out.

Robin has changed since his first incarnation but at that point he didn't have a personality just a vague idea so now his look more reflects him.

Stephan got hot. That's all I'm saying.

As for Emma, she was always meant to be a red-head. Disney's Ariel was a massive influence when I was young, all my heroines are red-heads, I have yet to make one that isn't (terrible I know). I tossed back and forth about whether I should make her hair brown as I was concerned that people who knew me as a fan of The Mortal Instruments series would just see her as a Mary-Sue rendition of Clary. In the end I decided to go with red, it was my original intention and there are a lot more red-headed heroines than Clary in the world and even in the books I've read, so I'm sticking to my guns.

Rest assured I'll be drawing more of these guys but do you want to hear about it? I'm not going to post the story as it is my intention to see it in print one day, but maybe character synopsis, small scenes etc. Would you like to see any of these things? Let me know what you think in a comment please?

Quite good, people who read it actually like it, and it's recomending it to other people, I feel proud of myself, and I have almost finished the second part of it, just to more chapters(it's going to be a triology... it was going to be a short story...)
A friend did me a booktrailer with some of the cast I gave her, do you want to see it??
I have to admit that TMI inspired me

yeah, I couldn't help it, it's an awesome saga XD but it's different, it has some parts that reminds me to The Hunger Games too, but that's funny because I finished writing it before reading The Hunger Games XD

I haven't read Battle Royal, but I thought that there weren't books like THG, they were different to anything I've read before

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Street-Angel In reply to VanessaPortrait [2012-05-10 22:15:47 +0000 UTC]

Just read this and tell me it's not The Hunger Games. XD

Battle Royale takes place in an alternate timelineβ€”Japan is a member region of a totalitarian state known as the Republic of Greater East Asia (ε€§ζ±δΊœε…±ε’Œε›½ Dai Tōa Kyōwakoku). Under the guise of a "study trip", a group of students from Shiroiwa Junior High School (城岩中学树 Shiroiwa ChΕ«gakkō) in the fictional town of Shiroiwa, in Kagawa Prefecture, are gassed on a bus. They awaken in the Okishima Island School on Okishima, an isolated, evacuated island southwest of Shodoshima (modeled after the island of Ogijima). They learn that they have been placed in an event called the Program. Officially a military research project, it is a means of terrorizing the population, of creating such paranoia as to make organized insurgency impossible.

The first Program was held in 1947. According to the rules, fifty third-year junior high school classes are selected (prior to 1950, forty-seven classes were selected) annually to participate in the Program for research purposes. The students from a single class are isolated and are required to fight the other members of their class to the death. The Program ends when only one student remains, with that student being declared the winner. Their movements are tracked by metal collars, which contain tracking and listening devices; if any student should attempt to escape the Program, or enter declared forbidden zones (which are randomly selected at the hours of 12 and 6, both a.m. and p.m.), a bomb will be detonated in the collar, killing the wearer. If no one dies within any 24-hour period, all collars will be detonated simultaneously and there will be no winner.

After being briefed about the Program, the students are issued survival packs that include a map, compass, food and water, and a random weapon or other item, which may be anything from a gun to a paper fan. During the briefing, two students (Fumiyo Fujiyoshi and Yoshitoki Kuninobu) anger the supervisor, Kinpatsu Sakamochi, who kills both. As the students are released onto the island, they each react differently to their predicament; beautiful delinquent Mitsuko Souma murders those who stand in her way using deception, Hiroki Sugimura attempts to find his best friend and his secret love, Kazuo Kiriyama attempts to win the game by any means necessary (stemming from his lack of ability to feel human emotion due to a brain injury sustained in a car crash while in utero) and Shinji Mimura makes an attempt to escape with his best friend Yutaka Seto.
Cover of the first English-language edition.

In the end, four students remain: protagonist Shuya Nanahara, Noriko Nakagawa, Shogo Kawadaβ€”a survivor of a previous instance of the Programβ€”and antagonist Kazuo Kiriyama. Following a car chase and shoot-out between Kazuo and the main characters, Noriko kills Kazuo by shooting him, but to absolve the quiet and naturally good-natured Noriko of any guilt, Shogo then shoots Kazuo, claims he is in fact responsible for Kazuo's death, and then takes his two partners to a hill. After telling Shuya and Noriko that he will kill them, Shogo shoots in the air twice, faking their deaths for the microphones planted on the collars. He then dismantles the collars using information he had previously hacked into the government servers to obtain. Shogo boards the winner's ship, as do Shuya and Noriko, covertly, a short while later. On the ship, Shogo kills Sakamochi and a soldier, while Shuya kills the other soldiers on board. Shogo tells Shuya how to escape, succumbs to his wound from the battle with Kiriyama and dies. The two remaining students return to the mainland and attempt to travel to find a clinic belonging to a friend of Shogo's father. From there, they make plans to escape to the U.S., facing an uncertain future as they run from the authorities who have spotted them as they try to board a train.

Ehh... it's really similar, not to say the same... I can't believe it, that's crazy, it change some things but ecerything the Games-Program, fighting to death, being tracked... okay I can't believe that, too much for me today hehehe

Street-Angel In reply to VanessaPortrait [2012-05-10 22:39:30 +0000 UTC]

Considering that was published in 1999 and has since been produced as a Japanese movie and a manga, I think there was even an American rendition, or talk of a live-action adaptation of the manga.

It's not exactly the same but THG is not original by far. XD Not to say she's deliberately copied battle royal cause she may very well have come up with the idea the way she says she did. There's a piece of dialogue in City of Lost Souls ending in 'he's adopted' that's very similar to a similar scene in The Avengers Assembled movie but there's no way they copied each other. These things do happen.

LOL there's nothing wrong with the idea of Allison in a turtleneck sweater, especially if there was an identical twin-sister/clone/triplet-sisters (also in turtleneck sweaters)

I'd like to see character synopsis, small scenes, etc, definitely! I love hearing about other people's characters, and it makes them so much more interesting if you know a little bit about them instead of just seeing random pictures that say 'oh look at my baby! I love this because it's so like them!' and you have no idea how because you don't know the character well xD
I feel like all these character's poses already gives them a distinct feeling, so
