The detail is beautiful, I'm just not convinced by the reflection, I think if the horizontal strokes were shorter the further away they were it would give a better perspective.

I like the concept, I really do, but you might consider giving the ships a sense of direction. Keep all the riggings and the lines, just turn the ship so we can see the bow or the stern... just a little. It could give the impression it is leaving port, or coming home... you know people were always excited to see ships coming in; right?

im noticing a pattern in your work as im sure everyone else has... you have great skill in using the depth added by clumping the oil in certain areas with a tool, at the same time you make the reflections and minor details very realistic, making for an incredible effect.
