Description 4 hours in PS CS1

I'm happy with how this has turned out, although I am slightly annoyed with myself that I haven't managed to put enough of their house symbol in there - although you can see it in his ear-ring, necklace and purity seal.

I'm intending to do a portrait of each of the houses, kinda undecided on which to do next...??

My mates used to play Mordheim; had many a good game from what I've heard.

With my mates it generally ended up as a siege as one of them had a undead gang with a suped-up vampire and legions of zombies.

Yeah my skaven had to fight the undead a fair bit! Fun when youve got terrible leadership!

I like this, very intense without being over the top of violent, and it gives a great sense of the bulk of a person strong enough to hold a heavy bolter. Two htumbs up.

This is a nicely realised image, and you've emphasised the burly and macho character with the exaggerated proportions.

Nice weapon design and sense of atmosphere, achieved very nicely.

The pose seems slightly awkward around the raised leg, perhaps because I'm bringing a predetermined way of thinking to the image by expecting a heavy gunner to be planted to the ground (which he can't be at all times or he'd not last too long!).

Your characters are really showing some solid progression. Nice work.

StugMeister In reply to AdamShepherd [2009-05-31 10:34:46 +0000 UTC]

Thanks mate.

I think if I positioned the heavy weapon better, maybe having it face the viewer a bit more, then the leg pose might look less awkward.

Cheers mate!

I do take requests, but more as a way of getting ideas. If I like the idea then it's something I might tackle in the future.

StugMeister In reply to Prythen [2009-05-14 20:16:00 +0000 UTC]

I always get very tempted to do some Gaunt's Ghosts fan art whenever I re-read the books. I think it'll be something I attempt when I feel my skills have developed further.

Im sorry sir but i feel that your skillz are ultra l33t!
Im glad to hear though that you are a reader of Gaunt.
I would love to see your take on Colm Corbec, Milo Brin or Try Again Bragg!

Me and a girl at work are massive fans of Gaunt!

U alright sir?

StugMeister In reply to Prythen [2009-05-14 21:05:42 +0000 UTC]

I must've read the whole series at least half a dozen times. I'm a big fan of Dan Abnett, his 40K works mostly.

I think what I meant by skills is more of the facial and anatomical sense. I want to be able to render real solid characters but I feel my peeps tend to seem a bit plastic?

I'm fine and dandy thanks, currently working on my next Necro dude - how's about yourself?

Prythen In reply to StugMeister [2009-05-14 21:35:11 +0000 UTC]

Not bad at all, just chilling out listening to Ozzy Osborne & wondering what happens in the next chapter of Eisenhorn.

I am also a massive fan of Abnett's work. His imagination is immense and i can only wish that one day i will have a mind like that. I will be taking about 3 or 4 of his books away with me only my Holidays!

I loved the Horus Heresy as well, i have a hard back copy of that signed by him as well. Will try and get a shot of it put on here!

Whats the new piece you are workin on comin out like?

Big0Jack [2009-05-12 03:35:26 +0000 UTC]

Left leg looks a bit awkward; I assume he's just walking or running, but his staunch body position seems to contradict that...

Love the detail on his clothes, though, particularly on the mask and...whatever you'd call that thing on his upper body.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StugMeister In reply to Big0Jack [2009-05-12 22:03:23 +0000 UTC]

Thanks sir!

He's walking forwards slowly, so that's why I didn't put too much movement in his torso.
