Description These are the final spreads now for my book "deaths in happy places". Ive opted for a design style that is bold, colourful and simplistic. The reason for this is that from first glance the reader will not realise what the genre of the book is, it is only as the start to read the type that they realise its a book on death. The whole book is my original photography and own hand made balloons (Ive had a crash course in balloon modelling to get up to speed) each death is illustrated using balloons, for the purpose that balloons seem safe and cheerful, but can surprise you when popped. Bit like this book. Also the idea of inflation suggests the idea of protection from death and how we all try to caccoon ourselves away from it, the term "protective bubble".
The illustration in this spread is of the animals that were featured on the merry go round in moscow where the man died. Ive added motion to the photo in photoshop.

LOL, I like this a lot, I can see the development and I think it’s a very clever development play upon all the other themes you mentioned before. Same colours and similar shapes, I am still a fan of the development of the spread you did but I think this has a lot of humour and an intelligence approach to the overall construct of this publication/peace.

Might be nice if the image slightly bleed over the page as it just seems to cut short, but that’s a minor point, as it is such a witty spread, really like this one, very impressed with the development.

The typographic layout is as always very inspirational, its not you’re stereotypical centred placed text, and it have been placed towards the folding edge, yet it work and works well.

Funny, witty, well developed, well constructed, excellent.

yeah i was bothered by the lack of bleed as well, unfortunately this was how I took the photo at the time they animals were hanging you see so I had trouble capturing them, and this seemed to be the most dynamic photo I came up with. Thx for the comments im glad that you understand where im coming from with this project and apprieciate my wit youve been inspirational. x

LOL, I am glad I have been of some help on this project I like things that question the perceived norm, and I am quite know for being a bit sarcastic at the best of times to anything witty appeals, esp. if it plays on social taboos and managed to broach them and over come them in a way that is none offensive yet light hearted. It’s not an easy thing to do.

That’s how the photo cam out... it really looks like it has been slightly foreshortened, how very strange, however the image is still a great image, really like this one possibly because I know the development stage, but I do appreciate the dark humour behind this piece.

I don’t think I helped you out that much really, just gave a few suggestions you seem to have always had the ideas and have developed them. My input was defiantly minimal more supportive of the idea than suggestive of them.
