Description Well if you haven't seen Van Helsing, you'll have no idea what this is, but if you have, God Bless you! ^_~ This is my Anna Valerious costume. I made the spats, the blouse, the corset, the sword frog, and the bolero. (Everything else I had to procure by random needs). Things learned? Buckles are buggers, traditional studs hurt your fingers after pounding them into leather for a while, you have to find the precise thickness for sculpey buckles to make them suitable for leather straps, and if you plan on wearing this type of outfit, always allow yourself at least two hours to get ready...because it's such a pain. >_<

Please note: This is the oldest incarnation I have of this costume, when I was still learning to make stuff. If you browse my gallery, you will find the new and improved version.

Thank you very much! There are still a lot of upgrades I'd like to make to the outfit (she has weird studs on her corset) but I definitely love cosplaying her.

Danke. I have worked my butt off on it, so I hope it's pretty good. I have had the outfit forever, but I have yet to take professional photos of it yet. X)

Brilliant job! As for the people who haven't seen Van Helsing - who are these people? Do they exist? I've never met one!

<_< >_> Well... that was an interesting experience... the blouse. It took me about ten hours, but since I don't do embroidery (takes much too long, and don't have an embroidery machine), I opted to use a matte-finish fabric paint. So what I did is ... cut out all the pieces for the blouse, sketched the design onto the pieces, and went in and hand-painted the entire thing. Like I said. Took me about ten hours. One whole day devoted to a damn blouse. lol Same goes for the bolero. That's hand-painted as well. Painting is fun, yey! Thank you for the comment. ^_^ If you need any more tips, feel free to contact me.

Hm let's see what details I can dish out for you... for the studs on the corset, I used tacks from hardware (although I highly recommend getting studs from the leather companies. I just chose the hard way, lol) that had a pounded texture to them (this was before I knew there was a FLORAL design on all of them. I might redo, but we'll see). I made the buckles by myself out of sculpey, and painted them gold. This corset is very very very very stiff and difficult to move in, and hard to get on as well. But it looks pretty good. ^_^

Beautiful! ^_^ I really wanted to be Anna for this past Halloween ;_; but unfortunately, it wasn't in my budget. Your corset looks fantastic and the blouse is beautiful! ^_^ And the boots... ahh... I want a pair >.> I love boots with buckles. The costume is very, very lovely and you did a wonderful job on it! And is that your real hair? >.> If so... I envy! Mine wouldn't hold a curl for more than an hour (unless I did curlers at night or had 50 pounds of hairspray in my hair XD) and I cut all mine off >.> Seeing hair like this makes me wish I hadn't

Unfortunately, that's not my real hair! (But if I dyed my current hair and curled it, it would look similar to that). That's a nice wig I got off of ebay. Yey ebay! o_o/ The boots are an interesting story... I went onto ebay for to find some nice suede thigh-highs, but I wasn't willing to pay any ridiculous sums of money for them. Needless to say, it wasn't an easy job, and suede thigh-highs were going way out of my range... So I found a nice pair of calf-highs that had the same heel-style as Anna's, and made spats. I have to buckle every single one of those buckles, and then tie them off with the garter straps to my belt. It takes SO LONG. The corset takes long to get on too, but that's another story. I can't lace up the thing on my own! >_< Thanks for your comments. ^_^

lol i know some of your pain (made buttons using thick material for uncle's costume) and it took me at least half an hour to put my costume on for halloween. great job by the way. how long did it take you?

I worked on and off for about five months. x.x Let me tell you. I'm glad that's over with. But now I'm moving onward to Dracula costumes and Van Helsing's costume. Wish me luck as I venture forth back into the world of LEATHER. :: deadpans :: X) Thanks for the comment!
