I did this for , and because I thought Mary Tudor needed a picture where she was young and cute, as opposed to where she's the usual stereotypical heavy. It's loosely inspired by the Carolyn Meyer novel, "Mary, Bloody Mary," the first book in the Young Royals series.Basically I had this image in my head, and I had to get it down in paint before I lost interest in doing it. Mary's here, about 15 or so, dressed in a relatively simple red court gown and with her hair loose, because she's getting ready for bed. (This probably also explains the somewhat unusual display of cleavage, since I figured the maid would have helped loosen the top of the lacing on her bodice.) But her prayers have been interrupted by... just who? I have a pretty good idea of just who it might be, but I leave it to you to decide, dear reader.
Edit: I made the outlines of the shadow stronger and darker when someone pointed out it wasn't clear it was an intruder. Hope it looks better now, guys!

Perfectly done! I love the court gown and how her hair (So beautiful btw!) is flowing behing her. I like the fact that u have shown her strong catholicism with the ornate cross and the rosary in her hand. Love it!

I read this book when I was 11 and it was my favorite, mostly because I related to Mary so well (my parents had divorced and Dad was with a woman I despised).
But anyway, I love this picture. Her fierce and stubborn expression, her gown, her hair. Gorgeous.

I can see where you pulled some of the inspiration from the book (which was a very good book.)
The details in the dress are fantastic and I like that you contrasted the cold blue color of the background with the bright, warm red of her dress.

I remember when I first read this book, I loved it and I firmly hold my vows to Mary Tudor, she is a wonderful person and Lady Anne (she'll never be queen in my eyes, and I'll never call her a queen) deserved her fate.
If I was Mary I would wrap that neckless around Anne's throat sooner then her being executed

Personally I think the Mary book is the best-- Elizabeth is the second. I didn't like the Boleyn book at all. Catherine of Aragon is better than that, in that it's covering less well-worn ground, but it's still not as strong as the first two books in the series.
However, it's still worth a read.
