Nice!
I see Melanin having a much darker skin tone, though. Like Foxy Brown's skin tone.

That chciks skin tone and shorter afro kinda makes me think of Sequoia a bit more that Melanin. Melanin's fro would somthing like Erykah Badu's fro(though I think it's a wig)....or Epseranza Spalding's fro. Extremely massive. And with Mel, due to the fact that she absorbs the sun's energy, she's a darker tone.

Ummmm....I didn't intend for them to look like X-Men. I've always considered the X-Men's colors to be blue and gold.

no way man you must have a big image of beast in your head cause they are deff yellow and black....bu hay if you are doing the same colors that can be cool cause its makes you think of something else popular like i did with the x men thing...?

Ah, I see what ya mean. Melanin's color scheme does resemble the x-men a bit. You're right, there colors are black and yellow, too. I guess I'm thinking of the 90's X-men....they kinda threw blue in there too...for a while it was blue and yellow outfits.
But really, Melanin's over all color scheme is black with yellow red and green.....the colors affiliated with being "pro-black"......mainly a salute to her African heritage.

My shadows are done with warm grey tones...starting at about 50% up to 70%....I'm pretty sure I used 70% on Melanin's skin. There's also a nice color called french tone grey 60% which I use as well for blending a bit.

Yeah, when starting out, it's good to start with lighter shades of grey...let it dry, and then see how it looks. It always looks dark at first, but then it dries and lightens up. After that, go a shade darker and repeat. after a while, you'll kinda just "know" what shade works on what tone.

I've never used copics, but I imagine it'd be the same. The technique I mentioed was something I kinda learned from doing airbrushing, it may apply to all markers as well. Let me know how it goes......I've been curious about copics for a while, now.
