It's a small lesser used track that runs between Paterson, NJ and Newark, NJ. At one time it was pretty busy, but a bridge that carried the line over the Passaic River in Newark was torched in the 1960's and that effectively killed this line.

I'd use it. Everything looks to be in decent shape still. Maybe a little rail grinding on the crowns would be necessary, but other than that, it looks usable.

Very usable. Transit would prob convert to welded rail for higher speeds, but thats about it. Other then that, this line is very structurally intact.

Well, technically this doesn't end in Paterson any more. You might have seen the New York Susquehanna & Western railroad. Very similar in appearance. The old Erie Railroad lines have been re-routed so technically this line end in Clifton, NJ.

The way this line used to come into Paterson is now part of NJ Transit Main Line. Find an old map of the Erie Lackawanna before the 1963 re-route of the main line and you'll see how it was all laid out.
