HDR may have helped. Your suggestion of 2 images 8ND and no filter I think would work too. In general, always use a polarizer unless the scene is dark. Love the composition!

is that a higher temperature of the image or something?

no.. just overexposed

Yeah, for this one a 2 stop ND filter running at an angle along the top of the cliffs would have pulled that sky back.
You're lucky here, because the filter line could be made invisible as it would go all the way along the line of the rocks in the ocean.
The only drawback is that the filter would have darkened the water too..but it would have been an even darkening and probably not too noticable.

The light on that rock face is gorgeous

How about two exposures one with a ND8 for the sky and another with no filter ( actually I think a polarizer should have been on both shots ) then combine the two shots via a layer mask?

Hm, it's way too overexposed - it actually looks like big white square in the sky.

The evening light on the rocks is beautiful but using HDR in this shot is necessity I guess. And if you will be doing calendars (as suggested in one of the previous comments) you don't want to have "empty space" - it doesn't look very good (when you print it on white paper). But then again, I might like something that you might not

No HDR on this one at all.. two shot stitched.. I would have put a gradient in but I can't even do that.. when I go back it will be with a better sky and I will know what do do.. Have ordered a ND filter from HK
No this one was straight chicken soup.... when are we going to see your shots maestro??

Sometimes things don't always turn out the way we plan but so long as you are passionate about the piece regardless, others will love it, too.

Nice one, hon.
