Description More horsey art, yay.

I love doing pieces based on text, and this one is inspired by one of my mums old kids books, tam the untamed. I loved that book as a kid, I wanted to live in a farm full of animals in the autralian outback too! In hindsight, owning a occasionally murderous stallion might not have been as much fun as I thought back then. But I guess in a way the whole thing felt so real compared to those books where cindy gets a horse, it wasn't a perfect fairytale, people got hurt and the horse was dangerous.

Anyway, finally done!

Thanks! I don't know that book, but I had a blast browsing through old horse book covers trying to find it, some of them are just so pretty. Really makes me want to grab some oils and paint some horses with a real brush, it's amazing what they could do with it, no digital approaches that.

Woow, really cool~ The horses head and upper part of it's neck might be a bit too small/thing but the painting itself is very dynamic! I like the chosen colours, penstrokes and also the composition <3

Thanks! I'm fairly certain (from my references) that the size of the horses head is within believable boundaries, but I did want to make him a bit small headed for that more fine look, horses with big heads can be cute or impressive, but not very regal in my opinion.

Wow when I first saw this I liked it! I love the pose and the colors are so brilliant and vibrant! Lovely work there. I am also totally in love with the simpilty of the shading and detail, yet it works so well like a speedpaint!
Very well done!

Thanks! I always end up fighting with the amount of detail I add, I refine things and add detail and then have to go back to obilirate it because the strength of the brusstrokes is just so much better. Lots of time wasted.

Very welcome, hmm I know what you mean, I'm such a perfectionist, I take literally forever to finish even one piece. I waste time just trying to 'perfect' it....embarrasing!
