Description I finally made it to Australian Jewellers Supplies in the city, and woah, it was like a library of all the tools and machines I could possibly want for this hobby.
I bought some wax since I wanted to try out wax carving for awhile, and was further inspired by GeshaR's mad wax carving skills.
Check out her work where she wonderfully shows her step by step:

I didn't do any sketches for this ring, but had in mind these two fishes like the Pieces star sign. (I'm an Aries, thought that I could practice on a couple of fishes so I could one day do a mermaid)
I started by scratching a rough image on the wax ring as a guide, then I used a scalpel to cut out a rough shape. I used a dremel tool to smooth over the shape, and continued to file and sand away manually. I used the needle again to get the texture, and did a final smoothing over with the rough side of a kitchen sponge and water. (sounds really professional, lol) I saw a set of carving knives in store that looked really convenient, but I wanted to see if I had the aptitude for wax carving before I bought something worthy of a pro. (and also quite expensive)
I'm not sure when I'll get this casted in silver. I haven't been able to make the weekend classes at the Lapidary club. I think I'll practice a few more and finally do them in a batch
