Happy Pride Month! To celebrate this wonderful month, assuming nothing has gone horribly wrong, I will be drawing a bunch of characters who are under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. Some will be confirmed, while others will just be headcanons. So let's dive into this most chromatic month!

I decided to start off with SpongeBob representing asexuality, as confirmed by Steve Hillenburg himself (I am sad now). Why him? Because 'asexual' is currently the label that I myself identify with, and SpongeBob played a huge role in my childhood. Asexuality isn't very well known, and those who identify with the label are quite likely to be told that they're 'trying too hard to be special' or even that they're 'freaks'. Even a few LGBTQ+ people believe asexuality doesn't belong. But it certainly does. If you don't know what asexuality is, an asexual person doesn't feel sexual attraction to anyone. They can have high or low libidos, love or hate sex, and everything in between.

Now, of course, there are some unfortunate things behind this choice. Steve said Bob was asexual more-or-less as a response to claims that Bob was gay, which can be seen as a bit... questionable. And, of course, he's not a human but instead a freakin' sea creature. Of course, every character from his show is a non-human (Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy notwithstanding, obviously), so you'd get a non-human out of this show regardless. As for the fact that I'm a bit of a Spandy shipper... well, he can still be romantically attracted to Sandy. Unless he's aromantic too, but that's for another day.
