ProjectXA3 In reply to SurfTiki [2011-11-24 23:18:52 +0000 UTC]
Yep, that's its designation. I also know the ammo type: 14.5mm Armor Piercing, Fin-Stabilized, Discarding Sabot (14.5 APFDS) rounds.
Yep, and I've known that one since 2002 when I read it for roughly the fifteenth time in the manual ... man that was a great manual...
It was that early? I wouldn't have thought it was released so early.

1st game hmmmm....i think i have that and i did like the weapons chart in it. I think i have a scan of it.
And yeah it was the 1st figure i saw and im a armor fan so i had to get master chief when i saw him. Tho i do have to say i dont have a easy time customizeing that armor like some of the others ive done. and i wish i had gotten a Hybukia(spellings off but the ninja gadien style armor)figure when they were new as thier expensive more so now.

ProjectXA3 In reply to SurfTiki [2011-11-27 00:52:31 +0000 UTC]
Damn, why didn't I think to scan it?! I think you mean "Hayabusa", and how is the Chief's armor harder to customize than others-- because it doesn't have the interchangable pieces like others do?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SurfTiki In reply to ProjectXA3 [2011-11-27 03:52:22 +0000 UTC]
Thats the armour, im not a good speller nor did i rember its name all the way.
And its from a desgin way, a paint sceam at the smaller scale isnt easy, the EVA was the easyiest to do as for helmit details.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ProjectXA3 In reply to SurfTiki [2011-11-27 20:53:22 +0000 UTC]
...okay, I *think* I understand what you're saying: it's hard to customize from a design point of view, the panels are smaller than others, making details more dificult, and the EVA is easiest because it's frikkin' huge. That about right?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SurfTiki In reply to ProjectXA3 [2011-11-28 02:34:45 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, the visor on master chief is a pain, but i think i've worked a desgin around it.
The EVA is just a nice round surface so its easy and the eye panels lend them selfs to cool desgins well MC on the toy scale is hard to get such details. But you got the idea i was aimming for.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ProjectXA3 In reply to SurfTiki [2011-11-29 06:13:49 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. I find (in my extremely limited experience) that just about any smaller brush will work for details as long as you don't push down too hard on it. If you wanna make a super-thin border line for something, you might wanna try using a small amount of paint coating a toothpick.

Good tip, ive been painting for alot of years now so i knew this butstill good tip.
The desgin of his visor is a bit tricky and i dont know it isnt as easy is all but i got a idea that might work for it.

ProjectXA3 In reply to SurfTiki [2011-12-02 01:52:50 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! Have you also thought of brushing paint on and then qiping it off after a second or two so that the color stays in the grooves and ridges? I've found that it makes one hell of an accent sometimes-- sort of an "energized armor" look, if you know what I mean.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SurfTiki In reply to ProjectXA3 [2011-12-06 05:19:57 +0000 UTC]
Yep thats a classic painting tip, i use that on my models and minatures alot. Makes it easy to get painted metal with a chrome etched look on car engines. For figures it makes it easy to get worn or dirty looks too.
And if you thin paint and do that it can add transpaent effects of other colors.
Thanks, the tips are good and are well worth saying.
FYI i have been doing models for 20+ years and most of what i learned was from trail and error only recnetly i have gotten some books and stuff on scale painting. But hey im glad your willing to share the tips with me, Thanks!
