I think It's really cool when mum's join us in our fandoms. Mine has followed quite a big deal too, starting from the Moomins as I was a small child following me to the Magical world of Winx Club fairies and now recently we've both became fans of Sherlock Holmes together. True, she kinda was a fan as she was my age too, but she hadn't been into it for a while! It's just so cool somehow and I really enjoy it. Especially, because while she knows about Kuroshitsuji and Doctor Who quite a bit, she really doesn't love either. So I was happy to find something we both liked again( actually she liked Death Note too...)
ANYHOW .... Sorry for the completely unnecessary rant. The picture. Is . Brilliant. Seriously it looks so much like Tom it's fantastic. I was already wowed when I saw it on FB and Tumblr( and of course I reblogged it). It does look rather fast made - wgich actually - makes the whole thing even more impressive. The fact that you can do something so awesome SO FAST just makes me jealous. It just looks so cool and you know? Despite it being quite realistically in style it still has your handwriting to it. That smile is so very you. although I have to say you are getting much better at smiles - they look more natural and less-forced. Anyhow - awesome picture. I LOVE it and it's sweet of you to do such things for your mum

XD Yeah, well Mum does like Sherlock as well; and she does like Trinity Blood!
As she has a soft spot for super heroes, action movies and aliens, I knew she was going to like "Thor" and "The Avengers".
But she had never heard of them before, as she is not interested in comics, so I was quite surprised that she instantly recognised Loki. XD
I just loooove drawing Tom. This man has the ability to covey so many emotions only through facial expressions, or even through his eyes. You should see him talk in private - there are a few videos on Youtube where he talks in private, and he does it there as well; it seems to be in his nature (I do sound like a creeper, don´t I? XD It´s just when I try to draw someone real, I look like a helluva pictures and visual/audio material, to get used to the looks AND to the personality - I think it´s important to get a good visual interprettion of a person). Anyways, his eyes and his smile do fascinate me the most as an artist. He can literally tell stories with his eyes, and his smile is so genuine - trying to pull that off in a drawing is challenging, but I gladly accept it.
As for the speedpaint - it was fun, but still a bit stressy. You know that I´m a detail nerd, and usually it takes me very long to work on all the details. Apparently it´s a good learning process. And I am so happy that you think I didn´t make his smile too toothpaste-commercial-like.
This will not be the last picture of Loki or Tom; I draw so much inspiration of drawing both the character and the actor. :3

I knew you use PS but the tool looked so much like the default settings for a marker tool in SAI that I thought maybe you tried Sai out? XD Honestly, its been so long since I have used PS for anything more than photography and a few finishing touches on drawings sometimes that I can't remember much of the brushes in it.

SAI took some getting used to. it was a slow process I would use it for a few things here or there and slowly used it more as I learned more about it until I fully moved over to it for drawings. Though I use PS for some touches sometimes.
