Vision
The composition of the fan in front of her face seems to invoke a message to me, which is always great in an image. To me, it kind of reminds me of a the middle eastern veil and the whole symbolism behind it and its relation to women.
Originality
*im sorry if this rating seems harsh* I really wish critiques didn't have an originality rating to them, cause i find that millenniums of human existence, and millions of art works produced, its really hard to be original in the contemporary era. With a ton of geisha works out there, and being a common subject in Japanese art, it would be a lie if i rated the Originality as high, and i do not wish to lie. And i wish to see you expand your portraits a bit more! Maybe a 3/4 perspective or an over the shoulder look? Her facial characteristics reminds me alot of your OC Maeryn xD
Technique
I really like the brushstrokes near the neck area, they have a very painterly quality about them, and its nice to see that creep along the chin / up to the eyes. I feel like maybe the kimono and the fan seems alittle bit simplistic, which can be a good quality, but it would have been great to see the brushworks of the face on to those as well. The details of the highlights of the hair and the sakura blossoms are also a nice touch.
Impact
Perhaps its the green eyes behind the fan that struck me the most. Are you familiar with the Afghan girl portrait? The whole veil symbolism thing and the green eyes reminded me of that portrait, which is one of my favorite portraits of all time.
Keep up the great work!! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

*nostalgia attack*
the geisha was one of the first pictures i ever drew with serious intent, which eventually evolved into a love for the Japanese culture.
id love to leave a critique but im always scared that i might get too harsh ><

That sounds fun!
Its good to hear that! I sometimes feel that people forget what a "Critique" is, and always expect positive feedback, which is great, but the purpose is to provide constructive criticism to help improve the artist, not to hurt their feelings xD.
