Description The LNER inherited a wide array of tank engines of many different wheel arrangements. Two such engines seen here are the Parker 9A (N4) 0-6-2T, designed by Thomas Parker in 1889 as a standard 0-6-2 goods engine for the Great Central when it was still known as the Manchester, Sheffield, and Linconshire Railway, and the North Eastern Railway Y Class (A7) 4-6-2T, a design of Sir Vincent Raven's for work on coal trains. Both classes are extinct today.
