Description
While Thomas was outspokenly skeptical of Merlin being a wizard, the other engines found him quite amusing. "Isn't that Merlin something?" Chuckled Reggie.
"Aye, that'e is!" Agreed Carrie as the two engines watched Merlin babble incantations in his made up language while blowing steam from his funnels as trucks and coaches seemed to move on their own around him. "It's laike he's really a wizard!" Then Thomas puffed up.
"Stuff and nonsense!" He snorted. "Oh, come on! Let him have fun, Thomas! You needn't be such a wet rag about it!" Reggie scoffed.
"Do you really believe this? Percy I can understand, he's gullible like that, but mainline engines like you?! Aren't you above this kind of silliness?" Thomas went on, but then he had an idea. "Hey, Merlin!"
"Yes, Thomas?" The new engine asked. Thomas wore a mischievous smirk as he began to ask him,
"If you're what you claim you are, how about you prove it? Cast a spell."
"What kind of spell? I've many in my catalogue to call upon, but keep in mind as a Wizard of Light I can only use my power to help others."
"Yes, yes, whatever" Thomas cut him off rudely, before pondering for a moment. "I know! How about you cast a protection spell on me!" Carrie and Reggie watched in awe as Merlin smiled and responded, enthusiastically,
"Very well then! I shall grant your request!" And thus began to chant an incantation in his strange, unintelligible language, closing his eyes and sending up a puff of steam from his three funnels. Thomas closed his eyes as well, and when the chanting stopped, he opened his eyes.
"Is it done?"
"The spell is complete! Go forth, for you shall be assailed by danger, misfortune, and evil no longer!" Merlin replied.
