Skin it with a giant cheese graphic and it would make a good cheese advertising car!

Why couldn't you buy a normal car? Is this all you can afford? I knew my daughter should have married that rich doctor instead of you. If this thing runs out of charge don't expect me to get out and push. I bet this thing breaks down in the worst part of town too.

What did Popular Science have to say about it when it was new?

One must have been somehow masochistic to drive on public roads something like that - after all, it's just a golf cart with a fiberglass body inspired by the 1970s British Bond Bug three-wheeled car...

Of course nobody did! 😃
But I was referring to city streets and thinking about the lack of comfort and safety - crashes also happen in towns... 😢
Btw, you have some nice photos here. 😉

You're welcome!
Yeah, ”theoretically” - as long as you're not hit by a 10 ton truck going 30 mph... Or by a falling bough. i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s…
But enough about the ”crash theories”! It seems that we're both scale model car collectors - are you interested only in 1/64 diecasts or...? (I collect mainly 1/43 and 1/87 scale diecast, resin or plastic models, but not exclusively.)

HermanEks In reply to SwiftysGarage [2016-04-11 18:20:26 +0000 UTC]
Most certainly! But I had in mind possible in-town crashes, not solely ones involving a CitiCar.
Well, at 1/64 scale I only have only 6 models by Revell (3 Ford rat rods & 3 Chevy lowriders), 4 by Kyosho (all of them being Japanese GT race cars), 1 by XCO, in resin (also a Jap' Grand Prix racer), 3 classic German cars by an unknown (Chinese) manufacturer, and a CAT track-type tractor by Norscot (possibly a replica). And I will also get in the near future the three GM Firebird turbine concept cars from the 1950's, made by Norev.

Thanks for being interested, I'll take some pics. Umm... Do you mean the 1/64s or the collection in the whole? I'm asking because I have a very small room in which I've somehow managed to squeeze the furniture, a hi-fi stereo system, a home cinema surround system, books, figurines, the computer(s), [...] myself, and over 1800 scale models - so they're more like stored in multiple layers than displayed; even some of my favorite models are ”buried”.

I know that feeling - a few shots of anything in your collection will be fine. Whatever's handy.

I haven't forgotten about the pics, but it will take a little time because I wanna get at least half decent shots and the digital camera that a friend lent me a while ago proved to be crappier than I thought - the smartphone's 8 MP one is way better. Also, after having acquired a few new models, I've spent almost two nights rearranging the 1/87s, trying to stuff more of them in the same space. With little success...

SwiftysGarage In reply to HermanEks [2016-04-19 01:27:46 +0000 UTC]
Believe it or not, the lower the MP on cameras seems to work better for shooting diecast. It comes down to depth of field, and I find a 3 MP camera works best for 1/64.

HermanEks In reply to SwiftysGarage [2016-04-19 03:20:33 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, the DOF (depth of field) has more to do with the lens, the aperture, the quality of the image sensor, and the image processing capability of the camera, than the resolution. I suppose that your 3 MP camera has an optimal combination of these when it comes to macro photos.

HermanEks In reply to SwiftysGarage [2016-04-20 21:30:10 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, it's true that a sophisticated device is more selective, but a Canon DSLR should take decent macro photos. Maybe it's the lens? Do you want me to ask a friend who really knows a thing or two about cameras and photos? (The guys at the stores aren't always knowledgeable, I remember how a dude working at a hi-fi store arrogantly told me that no apparatus of a certain type has the feature that I asked about; I've refrained from telling him that I have at home such a non-existent thing.)
Wow, you don't have a cell phone? I'm not one of those who speak, text or something all day long, but I don't think I could manage without one...
Pretty nice pictures! I've taken a few pics of three 1/87s and two 1/160s (N scale) with the 8 MP smartphone camera to test the depth of field. (See the link below; I haven't cropped or modified in any way the photos, they are just as the camera took them.) One of these days I will make the promised pics, I've just finished some cleaning and minor rearrangements.

Thanks!
Well, it was sunny yesterday, so I took some shots. The models are just random, I was too lazy to ”dig” for some more interesting ones... So:
Four of the stacks of models in my room:
s1055.photobucket.com/user/Man…
A few concept cars in weird boxes:
s1055.photobucket.com/user/Man…
The Mercedes is a Spark (resin, ofc), the Opel GTC is a Schuco, the rest are from Norev.
Pairs:
s1055.photobucket.com/user/Man…
'55 Chevy Bel Air 2-door Hardtop - Road Champs (slightly modified); '55 Bel Air Convertible - Franklin Mint; Fiat Dino Coupé - Norev; Fiat Dino Spider - Minichamps; Horch 853A Sport-Cabriolet & Maybach Zeppelin DS 8 - Minichamps; Mercedes-Benz (W111) 280 SE Coupé & Cabriolet - Faller (plastic); Peugeot 404 Coupé & 504 Coupé (both are the facelifts) - Minichamps
Miscellaneous:
s1055.photobucket.com/user/Man…
BMW 2000 CS - Minichamps; Citroën ”Mille Pattes” (”Centipede”) Michelin Tyre Test Car - Ixo; Ferrari 458 Spider - Hot Wheels Elite; Mazda 787B Le Mans 1991 - hpi-racing; '71 Stutz Blackhawk Coupé - Premium X; Talbot Lago T155 SS Figoni & Falaschi 1937 - Spark (resin); VW Beetle with Hymer Eriba Puck - Schuco; agricultural tractors - Universal Hobbies
I've still got to shoot the 1/64s...

People don't go out and say "Oh I'll have a crash today". You don't need to be paranoid about that. My grandmother loved to be 100 and she was driving since the 1930s and never had a car crash.

HermanEks In reply to SiberianSpirit [2016-04-07 13:24:04 +0000 UTC]
I'm not paranoid, in almost 26 years since I drive - sometimes (almost) recklessly speeding - I've had only minor crashes*, and some of the cars that I had were not quite safe, but one cannot always rely on sheer luck. Better safe than sorry, don't you agree?
* I live in Romania, the country with the highest road traffic fatality rate in Europe...
