Description OMG IT'S SHO!!!

The title was going to be from a song called "God Gave Me You" by Dave Barnes, but the spiritual reference made me decide against it. Besides, in Sho's time period, religion isn't a big deciding factor in everything.

I drew this after losing my comp for a couple of weeks. I didn't have anyway to scan it, but now that it's back I can!

I'm so proud of this one, I want critiques! I used no reference for the horse or Sho, so take that into account please. Also, the fence on the right is a last minute detail. I know it sucks horribly, so go easy on it. Ha ha.

Scanner sucked the shading out of it, sorry. Also, some anatomy flaws, but I love it anyway.

Also, my counselor said that Sho and I have the same eyes. I'm not sure about that, so I'm going to leave it to your opinion. Personally, I'm starting to see it. xD

Alright, enjoy the beautiful creatures.

Okay first ... *takes a moment to drool over the sexy boy, zaps self on computer* O_O

I absolutely love this piece, as I'm sure you already know. The horse is stunning, I will forever bow down to your talent. The shading is soft and strong, yet still seems calm and not overpowering. I really love the paper, it seems to have a lovely hue that makes everything flow with a content mood as apart from just a stark white contrast. I love the design of the bridal, for the size of the horse however it seems to small. A large friesian(?)in my opinion would easily break from like the snap of a rubber-band. That's more of a believable/no believable kind of thing. I love how you did the main, its kinda curly, gives the intimidating animal a cuteness.

Now onto the sexy man, you have come a long with with bodies and his is just to die for! I'm soo happy to see your starting to proportion those hands correctly to the body, for me it make a huge difference to see manly hands on a manly man. I also enjoy his soft kind of smirk, *has another moment* .... *cough* yes he's lovely!

Overall the two fit each other perfectly, Sho looks perfect for the animal he's got there both in personality and in size. My only real thing is the lack of a light source. She shading is just dark all over, with no hit of a direction of lighting, which isn't necessarily a bad thing it just makes Sho appear very tan! Great work, love how your style is progressing, and how your working more into detail to finish a more complex looking piece!

I figured you'd fry your keyboard with this one, though I'm not paying for it. Ha ha ha.

Thanks a bunch on the horse compliment. I guess those years of drawing nothing but horses payed off. xD The mane was a lot of fun to do. I was a little worried about going that dark because there would be no way to change it once it was done, but I'm glad that the hard work paid off. The curly hair was just meant to give him a bit more personality, and you know that most horses hair is a little wavy.
There is actually a bridle like that, and I want it sooo bad. The width of the leather doesn't really matter since the strength of leather is what keeps it together. If it was cracked or old, then I'd worry. They actually say that rolled leather bridles are the best, and I know that they cost a hell of a lot more, and they're only the width of your smallest finger. But I see what you mean about making it bigger, especially since it's on a farm horse and not a riding horse.

His body was REALLY hard to draw. The angle was fine, but when I stuck the horse in I got confused on how to position the arms, which is kinda obvious, but still manageable. I tried to give him that tanned look, but I think I could have done a lot more shading on him in general. His torso is my fave, just because it's so manly, but not overly ripped or anything. It's not like Sho goes to the gym, but he is pretty active, so yeah. The hands are finally right! God, it took me forever to get hands to match men, they were always way too small or too big and I'd end up scrapping it. Thanks for noticing.

I did try to match their personalities a bit, and with them both being "farm boys" it kinda worked. ;3 The light source wasn't really what I was focused on, just anatomy for now and adding another figure into a pic. I've been rather stuck on drawing just men. Ha ha. But I'll try that next time.

Thanks a lot!! I'll keep working on it.

;^; Your comment has made me very happy. I'm glad you like this horse, and I really did want the confidence yet gentleness in his eye that you described (vigor). Not a scary horse at all. And thank you for being objective about the creature. I hope you hate horses less now because of him ^^

And thanks for commenting!

Beautiful horse head. The anatomy is off, but your very close. Lowering the farthest shoulder would help, and some other adjustments. Try to be as confident shading skin as you are with horse fur, and a little less smudgy. But a very lovely scene, nice mood, and very beautiful.

Thank you so much. I've been drawing horses for almost fifteen years, so I'm glad I've gotten at least a little good at it. Ha ha. The far shoulder and arm did give me a lot of trouble, so thanks for the tip on dropping it a little. I've actually only recently started with drawing people, and skin is a big issue with me. I'll try to work on the shading. But, again, thank you so much.
