Omg what's that? A new deviation? 0.o The world is coming to an end!Yeah, I felt like drawing a horse, and I wanted it blue. So here's an andalite. Maybe Ax, or older brother Prince Elfangor.
Seriously, I haven't drawn or written anything related to animorphs for what seems like a millenia. I was a huge fan, back in the 90s, I even had my own Mary-Sue and a relative popularity in the french fanfic part of the web. Meaning a handful of people read my stuff and liked it. Weee!
It's sad, really, that K.A.A. lost her spark along the way. The series started all right, but many fans gave up after the first or second dozen. Now that I know how much work writing a novel is, I think it's crazy that she had to publish one EACH MONTH. WTF was her editor thinking?
I don't regret my years in this fandom, that's where I found three of my dearest friends and talented co-writers. But sometimes I look towards my colored pile of animorphs books and think about selling them. Still haven't found the heart to do it.

Love the perspective on this. I don't know if it'd make you feel better or worse but the later half of the series was written by ghost writers. Its all on the wikipedia. Applegate would write the outlines and Scholastics would hire a noname author.

But also, not surprised, since it all became rather repetitive. I haven't read the books after number 20, besides some Chronicles and the very last one, so it's not that bad

Yeah, actually she used the ghost writers so she could simultaneously write the chronicles. So I guess something good came out of it? When I found out my childhood was shattered.

At least she wrote the firsts ones, and I do hope the last.. I mean, a ghost writer can't kill off an important character, or reveal Jake's name

Oh my gods, I think I love you now! I too was a huge fan of the Animorphs series- my school librarian used to tease me about the way I'd stop in every day to see if there was a new book in yet, and to organize the Animorphs shelf just so. I always loved the Andalites though, and you've done an awesome job here.

It's been so long since I've seen/heard/thought/smelled anything about animorphs... It's pretty good, looks just like how the books described. I don't think I've ever seen a picture of one, but I knew what it was right off. Might have some kind of psychic link in it.

Nice Andalite there, very dynamic pose and all. I was a massive fan too, there were a lot of... convenient plot holes towards the end though, which was sad.

I re-read all of those books last year (except for one I couldn't find). Some of them are a bit boring and redundant, but you get to see the characters evolve and their relationships change as the war progresses. I didn't find fandoms until a few years after the books finished, but I wouldn't want to go back and never read them.
But if I see one more "My name's Jake/Marco/ Cassie/ Ax/ Tobias/ Rachel..." I think i'll scream.

Well, see, the reason she "lost her touch" is because, after about book 12 or so, most of them were ghostwritten. She would come up with an outline and hand it off to someone else.

Hm, no, I haven't read either of them I think. I stopped around book 30 because I felt it was getting redundant and was stretched too long... I did read The Beginning, though, understood nothing, shrugged at you-know-who's death and complained a lot about the ending, lol.

It's a weird style, IMO. I'm not used to seeing andalites drawn that was. but it's a cute style, too.
I don't regret that time either. Sev' sold her books a while ago, but I've kept them for my kids, along with our fanfics and some toys. I'm kinda hoping they'll tell me the fanfics are better
KAA isn't a bad writer, but signing a contract for 60 books of the same series was absolutely crazy. No wonder she found herself without any ideas. Especially with that time limit.
I still haven't read the Ellimist chronicles (thy never came out in France), I've been thinking about reading them some day. then I saw they sold on ebay for 60 dollars O.o. I don't want to read it that bad

60? That's really high. The Ellimist chronicles were pretty good though, if I can ever find them again.
