Description 1/4" scale model of a late Baroque interior for a theoretical stage set design of "Tartuffe" by Moliere. I used photoshop to add the chandelier and lighting effects (including the floor reflection). This picture is soon to appear in the textbook 'Scene Design and Stage Lighting."

I am just now seeing this? This is lovely. I love the bit of photoshopped reflection. Good work! This is a keeper! I am submitting it to our #TheatreArtists gallery so other theatre artists can enjoy it! I hope you approve the submission!

Tartuffe is a difficult play. I am working with a director to design it at the moment, and its hard to find context or reason as to why to perform it today. Was this realised, or was it just an excersise in making a period set and model?

Sorry for the late response.
While this was a class project, we found it the most useful to treat Tartuffe as a period piece, as much of the action in the play regarding Orgon/ references to the King and court seem misplaced in a current day. That doesn't make it any less relevant. Approaching it like one would Shakespeare seems the best.

That's an interesting concept. Was Tartuffe a televangelist type or something?

Beautiful model - how'd you do the lighting?

thank you... i have a little light lab set up in my closet with a model shelf-- i use an MR-16 for side light and 2 halogen clip lamps for general wash. For this model, I made the floor glossy by cutting a piece of overhead transparency plastic and placing it over the floor--thus creating a very reflective surface. The photoshop lighting through the window is done with a polygonal selection and paintbrush tool on a "soft light" layer at about 30%, with the edges feathered out. Door reflections are boosted by copying the door opening and flipping it, overlaying it into the floor with an overlay layer.

Makes sense all around - thanks. I've got about twenty models to shoot this summer and I'm thinking I should work on trick lighting and a little photoshop too.
