Description "It's hard to say with creatures like these. Best to follow your instincts and be cautious."

The Patupaiarehe are a race of humanoid creatures from Maori folklore and can be found throughout New Zealand. the Patupaiarehe are strange, plant-like beings, often found in hilly or mountainous areas. These tall humanoids can usually be found, or at least heard, playing ethereal music from their flutes while singing along in mystical harmony. While not usually hostile, certain songs or rituals are sacred to the Patupaiarehe and interruption by a human can be considered sacrilegious, prompting violence. Their plant-like nature and proximity to the island has lead much speculation that the Patupaiarehe either originated from or were transformed by influence from Zengalla. The abundance of life and other humanoid species that live on Zengalla heavily supports this theory, though it is unkown what role the Patupaiarehe would fulfill on the island proper.

The most notable encounter with the Patupaiarehe was in 2030, shortly after the first expedition to Zengalla. TriZen researchers picked up on a signal from New Zealand matching elements from the aura emanating from Zengalla. Fearing the worst, a strike team was sent to investigate, headed by a native from Zengalla. Upon arrival, they found a mass gathering of the Patupaiarehe people having a great celebration. The native guide recommended they stay back and watch as the ceremony was harmless and merely an offering of faith to their goddess. Interestingly, upon returning, the members of the strike force were in noticeably better health and moods.

these are great fairy-like folk, albeit their singing would be too alien for my human ears to handle.

Thanks! I like to imagine it sounds something a chirping didgeridoo.
