Its Holy Saturday and Bronia, Lola and the Lonely Warrior are going to bless their Easter basket.

The blessing of the Easter basket is a Polish tradition.  Our baskets usually contains bread, salt, pepper, meat (sausage and/or bacon), eggs (usually decorated "pisanki" or "Easter eggs"), horseradish, and, of course, everyone's favorite - the sugar lamb.  The lamb represents Jesus and His flag represents Jesus's triumph over death in the Resurrection.  It really is made completely out of sugar, but they also sell lambs made of dough.  We sometimes also add sweets - like the "babka" (bundt) in this basket and/or chocolate eggs (in more recent years)

This is what Polish Easter baskets look like

My family decorates ours with flowers, just the ones from our garden usually
Bronia of course decorated with daisies

Polish Easter eggs can be painted (like Bronia's), made with wax (like in Ukraine), or decorated with special plastic wrap (for children), however, in my region, we dip them in red onion and scratch patterns into them like so:

See Bronia and her family make their pisanki (Easter eggs) here:

The church is a real church - Kaplica Najświętszego Serca Jezusa w Jaszczurówce or Jaszczurówka.  Its located in the Tatra mountains where Bronia and her family live.  The town they live in is fictional and it does have a church, but when I saw my parents' wedding anniversary photos from this chapel I couldn't resist drawing it.

Here it is (the article is in Polish): pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaplica_…

And a photo:

Bronia is wearing a stylized version of the Zakopane region highlanders' national costume ("strój góralski")

Bronia's usual full costume (Lola's costume here is more traditional, Bronia's is slightly stylized):

's paper doll portrays these types of Easter baskets and this outfit of Bronia's.  I designed the outfit and color scheme, but I chose the exact shades of blue based on 's coloring here:

No, her mother wears different skirt lengths and also pants.  However, no one in this story wears above knee-length skirts because, even though the target audience is more general, there are kids who read it, and Bronia herself starts out 10 years old . . . She wears mostly long skirts because she usually wears either her Polish or Romani national costume, and both have mid-calf or ankle length skirts

However, in this outfit she has pants:

You can't see them, but she's wearing brown pants with a little pattern on the side, and its because they went outside for a walk in the morning and came back in to paint their Easter eggs

I understand. I am asking because I think her mother looks better and more pretty wearing long skirt down to her ankles.

Thank you

There are two more by but you cannot see her outfit in them:

She has a very cool braid though

If you want to know the story, she's not Bronia's biological mom.  She and the Lonely Warrior adopt Bronia.

Thanks so much!!!  I really appreciate that!  This dress was so fun to design!

But I hate drawing these types of flowers - lavender, wheat and pussywillows!  They take forever!  And I have them all in my gallery!

Just realized I haven't uploaded the wheat ones lolol   That stuff is hard!

Thank you so much

The fav means a lot coming from a wonderful artist like you

I'm slowly learning to shade   As you can see, some of my colors are still off.  I have a terrible sense of lighting and I just imitate the YouTube video instruction tutorials so everything looks like it has a different light source lol but I'm still proud of how far I've come in a year

BTW, I voted for both your pictures on that link you posted in your journal XD

You're very welcome!

You've grown. Keep that up and be proud of what you make. That's all what matters.
Thank you very much for voting for me! I appreciate it!
