Very good work, and excellent detail. Also, you say that the spikes are based off of fossil evidence from Diplodocus. Was that dinosaur preserved with those torso spines?

I know that this is an old post, but I though I should say this: there is a Diplodocus specimen preserving "spikes", but there's no real reason to think that they represent a mid-line structure ala iguanas as they are usually depicted (e. g. WWD) - they probably represent keratinous spines distributed all along the dorsal surface. Czerkas did not publish his quite made-up hypothesis in a peer-reviewed paper (which is truly sad since there's nothing formally published yet), and even if you read the report you'll see that he didn't present any solid argument backing up said idea.
TL; DR, the evidence favors this interpretation rather than anything else you see pretty much everywhere.

No problem! This makes sense. I always thought that most dinosaurs had more external adaptions than we knew. Speaking of which, have you heard of the book All Yesterdays by Darren Naish and John Conway? It talks about things like that.

Yeah. I've ordered a copy, but (as usual) Amazon makes me impatient. Oh, well. I do like trying to imagine prehistoric animals realistically.

Thank you!
Here is a link to the paper presenting evidence for the presence of keratinous spikes in Diplodocus.
