In the Horitsuba Gakuen manga omake, there is an end of the year celebration to which Fai shows up in one of Yuuko's kimono. The obi almost immediately comes untied. That two-page scene lead to this.

Oh man this took forever.

I wanted to go for a Tsubasa-esque style, since I find my art often improves if I imitate the style of work I admire for a while. That meant lots of line values. So to ink this, I pulled out some calligraphy pens. Then my plan was to watercolor it (I'm pretty sure Tsubasa colors are markers, but I don't own good markers, so watercolors are the next best thing). But... turned out the ink wasn't waterproof.

All the butterflies on the kimono ran. Very sad.

Luckily I had a scan of the lineart. Phew. But at that point it seemed to be destiny that I color it on the computer. So I did. With a mouse.

Also. Look! A background! I wound up drawing that separately and adding it in near the end.
