Name: Prince Destin Crepuscule
Age: 32
Location: Ciel-Étoilé
Social Standing: Royalty
Occupation: Crown Prince, Leader of the Ciel-Étoilé Military
Notes: First son of the Crepuscule family, and heir to the throne. Born with little to no magical ability, and so wears rather simplistic shadow markings, and dresses fully in cloth and armor. Blind in right eye since birth, and during a training session his head was struck on his blind side, resulting in a very close brush with death. Ever since, he has made sure to add a single spiked pauldron over his right shoulder to defend his blind side at all times.
Engaged to Lady Lys.

I've been hunting for the various Twili designs (such as the ones found in the Twilight Realm and the Palace of Twilight) on DA, which are sadly few and far between. Finally, I came upon this , this , and this , all of which proved to be nice (and more than useful) reference images. I did not use the images themselves, but rather drew the design by hand while using these as references.

Someday, I hope to make a series of Twili brushes, something to make this easier on me (and mayhaps other Twili fans who are interested).

Had this sitting in my folders for a while, decided to upload it for now since I'm busy with other projects and college work. Finals = fail. Gwah.

I can see that he is quite experienced by judging the armor that he is carrying around. He have an eye patch that might signify as a pirate attribute. Quite interesting indeed. I like the small symbol on the back, and the design are very well done! Keep it up. ^^

Ah yes, the single-shoulderpad with spikes. I enjoy those, gives a feeling of tough-ness. I like armor design, but I'm not all that great at it.

Yeah, I need to practice designing armor myself. I have a tendency to keep it relatively simple... I should work on more ornate designs at some point.

You're designs fine, just add texture. Adding texture is HARD though... and I guess add another spike to the shoulderpad? 3 is just a fun number...

Perhaps have the spikes bent slightly at the end? Idk... just random ideas... I love spiky armor...

It depends on how you do it. I usually have actual texture files to overlay, which is how I do fabric patterns mostly. but since this is a character sheet, I wanted to keep the coloring simple On more elaborate pieces, I'll probably add some texturing to it.

Oh...

You silly people and your texture files... I never figured that out. I just suffer and try to do texture manually...

doing grass makes me cry...

TaiOshiro In reply to Kcired2 [2010-03-09 05:52:48 +0000 UTC]

It's not that hard, actually, though I suppose it depends on what program you use as well...

In photoshop, I just create a new layer over the one I'm putting the texture on, and check 'create clipping mask' to keep it on the designated layer without running over. From there, you just switch the blending options to make it look like the texture part of the colored segment rather than just being pasted over it... plus, if you want, you can always use the transform tool to morph the texture layer to make it better match the contours of the colored layer.

... hmmm... it's easier to do than to explain... I'll try to do a step-by-step thing to show you if you want? D: I'm working on a piece that requires texturing, so I should be able to finish it in the next week or two.

Ah, I see, clipping masks... so rarely use them outside of school...

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but want to watch each other? I really like talking to you about these things. You're really good.

TaiOshiro In reply to Kcired2 [2010-03-09 06:04:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I work in layers a lot out of paranoia of mixing stuff up I started using photoshop back when you still 'grouped' layers instead of 'set clipping mask', but either way, that's just my method of using it.

That doesn't sound jerkish at all Sure!

I must admit it feels interesting being called a Twili artist. I think most people started watching me because of my 'Gods of Hyrule and Termina' stuffs, but either one is fine. 8D I'm just amused by the thought now.

I like all things Zelda, but I love my Twili OC. He's the only real OC I'll ever use. I'll eventually make a comic about him in Twilight Princess. It'll be sort of Fanfic, but he really doesn't change the events of Twilight Princess any. For example, one page might tell what's happening to him and another will show what's going on with canon characters at the time. I'd like to take the opportunity to give a little more life to side-characters.

TaiOshiro In reply to Kcired2 [2010-03-09 06:50:08 +0000 UTC]

I've got... a ton of OCs I used to write all sorts of stories in the past, but now I mostly write stories that are OC only, to prepare myself for writing my own original characters. I'm one of those OoT fankids, the ones who base everything they create on OoT. That's just the game I played most obsessively of the series, even though I love them all. At the moment, though, I've only got to stories in the works, one that's set in the OoT-ish setting, the other in the TP setting. I'm not sure if the Gods and Goddesses count as their own story or not since I allude to them in any and all of my Zelda-based works...

Long story short: Zelda is awesome.

Kcired2 In reply to TaiOshiro [2010-03-09 07:47:51 +0000 UTC]

Yup. I have to admit though, I take a lot of my character ideas from Warcraft lore and other games... yet I try to make it Zelda themed.

Well, inspiration comes from a lot of different places, especially from games we like playing and spend much of our time playing. I've taken a bit of inspiration from Fatal Frame in at least one of my stories. It's a lot of fun to see what people come up with based on the variety of inspirational sources available.

Yes, finals are fail.

I like the design that you picked, since it's realistic and logical. I've seen too many illogical designs for characters -_- The pauldron is a nice touch to fit in with your background info for him, although the eye patch design seems a bit plain to me... Oh well.

TaiOshiro In reply to Stormsworder [2009-12-08 04:38:00 +0000 UTC]

Well, the eyepatch is mostly there to make people aware of his handicap. The person who struck him was well aware of his handicap when the incident occured, so imagine what would happen if people weren't aware of it. So he wears the eyepatch simply to make people realize 'oh wait, that eye prolly doesn't work', as opposed to someone like, say, Zaraki Kenpachi, who uses it as a limiter. I've got a few characters who are missing/covering eyes (it's always on the same side, but there's a reason for that), but I'm trying to mix it up a bit as for how they cover it up.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stormsworder In reply to TaiOshiro [2009-12-08 06:58:47 +0000 UTC]

...I'm so glad I know who Kenpachi is... XD Quite interesting how you have a reason for them all missing eyes on the same side, and it's good that you're mixing it up. >> It would get kinda stale if they all covered the eye the same way

TaiOshiro In reply to Stormsworder [2009-12-09 04:21:25 +0000 UTC]

Meh, drawing just takes time and practice. I've been drawing since I was 4, all self-taught If I can do it, you can do it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stormsworder In reply to TaiOshiro [2009-12-09 04:24:19 +0000 UTC]

Wow, self-taught, huh? I just don't have the time or patience to practice, I guess... I used to be able to look at something and draw it, but not anymore after my sister threw away my work.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TaiOshiro In reply to Stormsworder [2009-12-09 04:32:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, self-taught. I've got a whole bunch of how-to-draw books. namely how to draw manga, but the principles are still the same. As long as you put your mind to it, you can do it. You just need to work at it.

Don't I sound like a cheesy life coach?

Stormsworder In reply to TaiOshiro [2009-12-09 04:33:57 +0000 UTC]

Heh heh... I dunno if I could. I can't even do that much with signature art and stuff, so drawing's outta my league. I've just always wrote stuff, really.

XD That smiley made me lean back from my screen cuz it was so big and unexpected XD And uh, yeah you do

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TaiOshiro In reply to Stormsworder [2009-12-09 04:38:20 +0000 UTC]

Meh, you just gotta go for it, don't think so much about it. If you keep thinking 'I can't do it', then in the end you really can't because your mind won't let you.

I'm in a hyper mood right now. Trying to get certain things out of my head so I won't be depressed or confused anymore.

Stormsworder In reply to TaiOshiro [2009-12-09 04:49:35 +0000 UTC]

I know, some kinda mental conditioning thing. Just learned about it today in general psychology actually... although I kinda think it's already taken root.

>> Hey, nothin wrong with hyper moods... I know how it is to want to get a depressed thought or two out of your head. I struggled with that a lot lately.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TaiOshiro In reply to Stormsworder [2009-12-09 05:05:04 +0000 UTC]

Yay for psychology. And it may be taking root, but there's still a chance to weed it out as long as you make the effort. It may seem hard or impossible, but as long as you try, the change will start to happen. (Sorry to ramble like this, but I've got another friend who has also gotten "I can't" stuck in his brain, so it kind of comes out due to habit.)

Yeah, depressed thoughts suck. :/ Someone I consider a friend keeps doing things that leave me feeling a bit... hurt and insulted, and it's driving me insane. x_x Trying to get it out of my head... Randomness helps at least.

Aaah, I see, I see... Well, I say I can't draw but I can at least write some rockin' stuff. I mean, I finished a 30 chapter Zelda fanfic. >> Now if I could just get people to READ it XD

Yeah, they do stink -_- And geeze, I think I know how you feel and can sympathize with it. A buddy of mine, has some pretty random stuff... XD Like his satire of American history. He IMs me in the middle of Left 4 Dead talking about a Flinstones version of the game that is called Left 4 Fred... I busted out laughing so hard I got pounced by a Hunter XD

TaiOshiro In reply to Stormsworder [2009-12-09 05:45:23 +0000 UTC]

I'd be glad to take a peek. I wrote a 25 chapter Zelda fanfic myself years ago (I liked it at the time, but now I wince a bit whenever I read it), so I can understand the hard work and effort you must have put into it. What's it about?

Randomness is major fun 8D Especially if someone can manage to make you laugh that hard in the midst of zombie hordes. Way too many people get way too serious in those situations.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stormsworder In reply to TaiOshiro [2009-12-09 06:03:49 +0000 UTC]

Woohoo, that would be amazing oO (Yeah, I look at some of my older stuff and I cringe and wonder why i haven't taken it down yet from fanfiction.net)

It's set during Twilight Princess and is kinda parallel, but I focus more on my OC than on Link XD So much so that someone once complained I focused too much on my OC instead of Link and the dungeons. I wanted to facepalm at that. >< Focuses a lot on her as she fights to try to save her family with the aid of the group (which I was happy to be able to do, they're very awesome characters)

XD I have fun in those situations. When I played LAN on 360 in our college lobby, I spent the whole time sabotaging my teammates instead of being serious One guy died seven times cuz of me XD And yeah, Dras can ALWAYS make me laugh, even in Civilization IV XD We were both on my Guild Wars alliance's Ventrilo...

Me: "Hm... I think we could use these resources..."
Dras: "I'm going to punch De Gaulle in the nose!"
Me: ".....Wha?"

TaiOshiro In reply to Stormsworder [2009-12-09 06:23:05 +0000 UTC]

Eh, OC stories can be fun to write. All my stories tend to be OC stories I feel restricted otherwise. But nowadays I tend to write more stories with ONLY OCs, since I'm trying to work with more original material, but in a premade setting so that it remains graspable to myself as well as others familiar with the world it's set in.

Oh geez, that reminds me of when =Fairy-red-hime and I basically screwed around in Mario Kart Wii instead of actually racing. My sis and I tried to do it in online play just because we felt too many people have sticks up their rear ends, but it disconned us every time :c And then when we played seriously, it became NIGHT OF THE LIVING HACKERS D8 That was horrific. Every race had at least one hacker in it!

Stormsworder In reply to TaiOshiro [2009-12-09 06:42:35 +0000 UTC]

I know that I SHOULD move on to doing stuff like that... but I kinda like my fanfics too much to do so yet XD I am working on original plotline stuff though. Trying to. It's very hard XD

I think I read about it... I've never played MKW >> So I don't know how the online play is for it XD
