Description This dragon has been sold. Still jobless and bleeding money and my cat still needs antibiotics.

I love doing these simple un-scaled sculpts. Anything that requires a wired pose or individually laid scales becomes exponentially more arduous.

He's made entirely of super sculpey, which I'm beginning to like more than original sculpey. The eyes are glass and were baked into the sculpt. This little guy is still just a baby with baby proportions; his "ears" are long feathery tufts. He was painted in acrylic, then sealed using golden brand soft gel semi-gloss for a protective matte finish. I sort of went back to the color scheme of the siamese dragon and did "color points," except in gray.

Materials: Super sculpey, glass eyes, Froud clay sculpting tool, acrylic paint, golden brand soft gel medium gloss.

It's called the last dragon series. It goesΒ

#1 Β  Fire Within, The

#2 Β  Icefire

#3 Β  Fire Star

#4 Β  Fire Eternal, The

#5 Β  Dark Fire

#6 Β  Fire World
#7 Β  The Fire Ascending
Although it gets a little weird around fire world I believe.

Where do you get the eyes?

tallydragon In reply to teamush [2013-10-23 03:23:01 +0000 UTC]

I buy all my glass eyes from the Van Dykes Taxidermy website. Mostly I purchase the "bird eye" for dragons.

do you make the eyes or buy them? If you bought them it was probably something like hobby-lobby right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tallydragon In reply to Arctic619Wolf [2011-06-23 01:21:13 +0000 UTC]

I buy the eyes online from Van Dykes taxidermy. You may be able to get them at a hobby store, just be careful to get glass eyes (my local craft store only carries plastic eyes, which won't survive the oven!)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Arctic619Wolf In reply to tallydragon [2011-06-23 03:55:18 +0000 UTC]

Well I guess you could use plastic on air dry, but I don't really like air dry. (to many reasons to name.)

were do you buy your glass eyes Ive been debating trying some with my sculptures but I'm not sure on the size and were to get them?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tallydragon In reply to CarmendeeDragons [2011-02-01 20:55:14 +0000 UTC]

I buy online at Van Dykes Taxidermy because I like their selection. Usually I get the "bird eye", or the cat slit eye from the novelty eye ection. They usually come in a range of sizes.

What are the eys made out of and how did you put them on?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

tallydragon In reply to syclopskitten [2011-01-16 19:11:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! The eyes are glass, and I bake them into the sculpture--glass eyes can survive the temperatures regularly used in baking sculpey.

Thank you! I buy them online at Van Dykes Taxidermy (there's a link in my profile). Most of he time I use the "bird eye", they make a nice simple dragon eye.
