I did this for my sister who has just turned 25 today and is a huge HP fan and also loves owls. hope she likes it.was going to put the witch in with more detail, but i decided that as the owl was the main focus, the witch would draw too much attention away from it had she been more detailed.
good ol' Photoshop CS3: about 3 hours.

no, but i would believe the reticulant skin tone is actually grey. They're notorious for there extraction of terrestrial human livers. Due to iron depletion in the Reticulan galaxy.

this image really forces you on a journey, you start at the person and your eyes are forced along the tail of the charm to the owl. and then back to the witch to start again.
few images i see on dA do this so strongly.
your artwork is certainly unique
your choice to keep her less detailed and blacked out was a very good one. it's really a very powerful image
