    In the old days, before the Sisters of Pain and Pleasure brought about the collapse of Shendelavri, Ariostrophius and Angalakhan commanded a cadre of Succubae Soul-Hunters. They would be sent out to the various planes, first using Angalakhan’s abilities to tempt mortal mages into summoning them, then through Ariostrophius’ direct powers of planar travel. Though her mother had been the first True Succubus, the Mother of all Succubae, Ariostrophius did more to bring the forces of Shendelavri into the mortal realm in a matter of years than her mother had done in millennia. These incursions created a glut of souls, soul energy to feed and power the new Queen of the Succubae, as well as grow the powers of the realm of Shendelavri itself. In this time, the forces of Shendelavri, both alluring and devastating, grew exponentially.

    On Arrallon, the War against the Wolf Hordes was still ten years or more away. But the Black Witch and her swordarm, Blackwolf were already building their network and armies. To serve them, the Abyss had vomited up a band of Graz’zt’s nephews, the Cambion Assassins under Lord Blorrzeg. Allied with them were demonic forces serving the Marilyth Queen, foremost, Her daughter Eris Ashagra. To Eris, many Demon Lords and Princes sent soldiers, spies and servants to ply the Weaponsmaster’s favor, and by extension, her mother’s. Amongst those servants were numerous Soul-Hunters from Shendelavri. Solanna Asteria was one of those Greater Succubus seductresses.

    In the years before the War; Carellon, Shabrund, Mirkyvale, Hergovine, and the Holy Symballan Empire sent forces into Tarkania to investigate the growing darkness. Between the Tarkanians and Gnollak legions, Blackwolf’s armies hardly needed demonic assistance. They had it nonetheless. Blorrzeg’s assassins worked throughout the west, infiltrating military outposts, eliminating key leaders, escorting spies out of heavily defended cities, and keeping those pesky adventurer types off balance while the armies amassed and prepared to march forth.

    One of the significant Carellonian frontiersmen that had joined the battle against the amassing Gnolls and Flind was Argen Villadian. He was intercepted on a spying mission into Shabrund, captured by one of Eris’ spies, the Soul-Hunter from Shendelavri, Solanna. However, once she had him, she discovered something she never expected. She discovered that she could actually fall in love. Whether it was a cruel trick by her Mistress, interference from the Arrallonian Gods, or simple fate, she would never know. She left him unconscious, but alive, and took his mortal seed back with her to the fold. She revealed nothing of her experience, only that she had managed to breed with a mortal and would now produce another Half-Demon that could breach the veil between the mortal realm and the Abyss, like Arios.

    Ten years later, when the Black Witch was destroyed, the Avatar of Fenris defeated, and Blackwolf driven into exile, there was little holding the army together. The Wolf Hordes quickly fell or fled. Sollana and her half-breed child were left on Arrallon, abandoned by the rest of the dwindling demon forces under Blorrzeg. And so she sought her human Ranger, Argen. Assuming the form of a woman she had once seen in his memories, she charmed him into serving her and her child until he died of old age. She might have loved him, but she was still a demoness.

    The little girl, Petula Solana Villadian, was raised as a Carellonian human, and the daughter of a great hero. Her mother managed to hide her true nature, as well as the girl’s, as long as she could. Petunia, as her father had called her, was almost grown before she finally transformed into her true, half-demon form. Her mother had kept her isolated, living alone in the wilds, or shut up in boarding school with spells on her to keep her safe and human. But when news of the overthrow of Shendelavri finally came, and the rise of Queen Narcissa was learned, Solanna decided to risk returning home, and teaching her daughter who she truly was. To her surprise and sad regret, her daughter accepted the news with open eyes filled with wonder and excitement. After all, this answered all those burning questions that she could never bring herself to ask.

    A few years later, Petunia returned to Arrallon, to enter and gain a formal education at the prestigious Kar’Dhaer Academy. Clearly not the best student, but certainly not the worst either. Her natural abilities at survival and wilderness craft, possibly inherited from her father, served her well. But her mother’s blood, the sexual energy of a Succubus, still pumped through her half-demon veins. She adopted the spellcasting of the Arcane Ranger, more Wizard than Druid,… and her case, more Erotic than Mage. Despite her decades of life, she’s still inexperienced, owing what mastery of skills she does possess to five years at Kar’Dhaer.
