Description Photoshop, 3 hours, no ref.

Mostly a proof-of-concept that I could recreate an art style I've already done. I've never attempted that, so I think it worked out rather well.

Still liking the colors in this palette, I spent a little more time using the colors to define shapes I hadn't outlined with the lineart.

CRITIQUE PLEASE!

There is a lot of motion going on here, and it's lovely. The whole scene swooshes around, and everything you do with the colors and action of the critters lends itself to the sweep of the whole piece. It almost leads to an anticipation of music and the background taking part in the antics, like Fantasia.

And the colors! I love the colors so much - the palette is certainly worth your liking :3

Also, proxy reply to something you said in a comment here - "If the sketch looks off, color won't fix it" - hah! So true! Gotta keep that in mined myself, for sure.

Yay for motion! sometimes I'll start a piece with motion in mind and sometimes I won't. This is one of the latter. My goal was simply to try a landscape that wasn't flat. Anything beyond that was bonus, really!

I love Fantasia, though I haven't seen it in years and years.

I love color so much that I usually get so excited about it I forget everything about color theory that I've learned. I'm like a kid with finger paints collllllloouuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrr. /smears

And sketch --> color comment: because of my above euphoria re: color I often don't spend enough time on my sketch XD

eh, did the others, might as well do this as well.

you were successful in recreating your earlier feel. the coloring is quite good, as before. The wolves don't really seem to be standing on anything in particular, but this isn't a bad picture.

I mostly impressed that you can make something like this in just a few hours.

I've never drawn (that I can remember) posed creatures mid-run or mid-jump and managed to pull it off, I def. need more practice with dynamic poses.

As for the time, most of it is spent getting the sketch right. I took the time to terrain-map the hill so I could get plants and such at the right sizes based on distance. and I've been told, if the sketch looks off, color won't fix it. I'm trying to keep remembering that.

this probably wasn't the best picture to practice dynamic poses on, considering the slanted scenery.

just complicates things more than they already are.

Perhaps, but I don't tend to practice before I execute...
