Yay, finally finished my colored pencil portrait of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). Keep in mind this is only my fourth (I believe- maybe third) colored pencil portrait. Finally had to stop cause the paper just wouldn't take any more pencil.I cannot tell you how much fun I had doing this, and how totally stoked I am to see the movie this weekend! I hear there's a nice surprise for us ladies who love Wolvie!
LOLAnyway, had the darndest time getting a good pic of this. Tried to scan it also, but it just wouldn't take, the waxiness of the pencils kept showing up. This is the best it's gonna get. I've already framed this up, and it looks great. Now to find a good spot to put it to annoy the hubby!

How long does it take you to do a portrait like this?

Well, that's a difficult question to answer...I don't sit down, start the portrait and finish it in one sitting. I work on it a bit, walk away, come back, do some more, take a day off, go back...etc etc...LOL I'd say about a week, of 30 minute sessions here and there...sorry, I guess that isn't such a good answer! LOL

No thats a good answer, I do the same thing if you sit too long working on something it wont turn out as good. Gotta let your Artistic mood rejuvenate cause if your bored with it or tired most of the time you rush to get done. Id guess at least 15 or more hours all together that has some nice detail, very realistic.

Holy shit how long have u been drawing/ did u have training u are a great artist lol (ignore my gallery it's old I can't submit nything) we have similar styles I am only in highschool but I also do tattoo designs/ portraits and I'm pretty good for my age/ ammount of class(none) and I am dying to get better lol

I've only been drawing a few years now, and I'm completely self taught. All you have to have is the drive to wanna get better. You are so young, by the time you hit my ripe old age, you'll be far beyond my skill!

I use prismacolor pencils too, but I have to push down on the pencils pretty hard to have a solid bold color...drives me and my hand nuts >_<; how do you do it with such solid feel?

Awww thanks! This portrait and my House portrait are pretty much my only decent things in my gallery! LOL I've been working on another portrait for some time now, but just haven't finished it, too lazy I guess! haha! Well, it's really a matter of layering when it comes to solid bold color for me I guess....light layers upon layers until I achieve the look I want, it's not until I have the color I like that I really start to press a bit harder.
